Rachel Notley on Elon Musk supporting Alberta separatism: "I think that folks who are thinking that there's something to be gained for Albertans by separating ought to ask themselves why certain folks south of the border think they have something to gain from Alberta separating."

Billionaire families have spent $1.7 BILLION on the 2026 midterms so far — a 5,200% increase since the 2010 midterms. Citizens United is among the worst decisions in history. It corrupts our system every day. Big Money is the root of our dysfunction.

My parents watched it Saturday evening, I think, when I was a kid. Just one family TV. I HATED it. But...each to his own.

Sure, he's a bully. Many bullies are also egotistical and, as T is fond of saying, low IQ. Have you listened to him speak? That makes him easily manipulated and outmaneuvered. Carney is much smarter, without these weaknesses. Watch him.

Seriously? No one is more easily flattered and manipulated than Trump.

It's nuanced. Our PM is tasked with negotiating with a mad asshole. I trust his judgment to confront Trump at the right times and places, and compromise at other times.

This is enraging, heartbreaking and wholly unnecessary. It’s also healthcare under Danielle Smith’s “refocusing”. #abpoli #ableg #cdnpoli www.facebook.com/share/v/1Dkc...

If this doesn't happen, total consumption will drop (we need a large working class with spending power), and with it, GND. The argument from the rich is that they need low taxes as incentive to invest. BS. Every rich person will continue to invest whether they pay 25% or 45% in taxes.

Five years ago, when a Seattle burger chain raised employee wages & benefits the Reicht wing lost their minds, screaming the result would be $20 burgers & the company would end in bankruptcy. Today, the chain is even more popular than ever. Never let them try to tell you a living wage can’t work.

Shell is the main investor because of economies of scale. It built the existing LNG plant in Kitimat. Which Canadian company could compete with Shell on an expansion there? None. Sure, increase solar and nuclear E generation. We can do both for now because this takes a great deal of time.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
The January 19/26 Energy Mix article predicted the gas glut and that Shell would opt out of expansion. Wrong. Shell understands the gas market better than journalists.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Who is for it? Shell and the other companies whose only interest is profits. Electricity generation will see huge increases with EVs, data centres, etc. O&G companies are betting that a large part of the electricity comes from gas. BC and federal govs will make billions.

How could you or I possibly have better information than these companies? They exist to make money by understanding markets.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
You're saying they're investing billions despite poor forecasts?
100
HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
So why is Shell investing? I assume they have a handle on the risks/rewards.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Ah, because beating China at affordable housing, as awesome as that would be, doesn't have the potential to derail it from perfecting a new technology that could lead to world dominance. Just a guess.
000
HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
This, as opposed to predicting against Shell on its economic viability, is a worthy discussion.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
You must have some serious information that Shell has missed entirely or misconstrued. You should really quit the social media thing you're doing and start investing full time. You'd make gazillions!

You seem to have a strong need to label someone a liar. No. The CLC lawyer and the professor are not liars. They're expressing legal opinions.
000
HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
The article you had me read quotes one lawyer for the CLC. Of course he would say that s 107 violates the Charter. He's advocating for his client. The question will be whether any particular back to work legislation is a Charter violation that is not saved by section 1. Same old issue.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
You mean where she says she doesn't know if he lied? Accusations of lying should be reserved for provably unambiguous lies, otherwise, it becomes too cheap and easy to throw around.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
The proposed change to S 107 simply gives an example of when the government may order workers back to work in the context of major projects. It is more of the same that we've had for decades. Much ado about nothing IMO.

Of these, which is the clearest lie. I'll look into it.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
I'm on your side. Labour laws are too weak. But this isn't an example of Carney doing anything not already available by law. He's just focused on making major project review periods shorter. They're too long and cumbersome now.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Yes, the SCC has read in the right to strike as part of freedom of assembly and of expression. But it has always been subject to "reasonable limits". This is nothing new. It's one of the differences between our Constitution and the US Constitution. Provinces insisted on it.

HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
When you call your PM a liar publicly, you better have the receipts. You do not identify one lie. It's hard to take such allegations seriously when they're made flippantly. And I'm in favour of making it illegal for politicians to lie, as they have in Wales.

First Nations rights is a legit concern.
100
HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
The Canada Labour Code already gives the government authority to end strikes. Carney's proposed Bill simply confirms that it can end a strike after mediation has failed if a project of national significance is placed in jeopardy. The courts then balance the right to strike with the national interest

Go back and reread what I actually said in my first post. I said there are competing interests that must be balanced. Only a cult member would take umbrage with that.
000
HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Have a source for this claim?
000
HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
A non cult member would say this about AI: Almost none of us really understand it. It's controlled by billionaires whose primary interest is their wealth. Unregulated, it will do environmental damage. We need to slow it way down and carefully regulate it.
000
HevvyKevvy🇨🇦 @hevkev.bsky.social · 26/09/2026
Seeing the world in black and white is what cults do. Excluding all other interests in pursuit of your one interest is what cults do. There is more than one threat. Climate change is one. Fascism/Trump is another.

I hear you, but Carney's job is not to protect the environment at all costs. It's to strike a balance between many competing interests, including avoiding a Trump induced economic meltdown. I wish it were as black and white as you appear to see it.
