learning that r markdown has beamer output has been a disaster for my software independence. if rstudio ever stops receiving support it's the end for me

a deep-held belief i have that i think most people don't like is that everything is regulation eventually, whether legislated or cultural. unregulated markets are mostly just stuff where we haven't figured out whether it's good for you yet (outside corruption)

it don't matter if americans think inflation is way worse than it currently is. that's a recipe for Great Expectations

there are four fundamental feelings musicians aim to perform: sleepy, evil, uncomfortable, and little treat for being patient

oh lawd he squinting
A spectacled wallaby squints at the camera in the right of the frame under a bright light on packed red earth. It has stubby arms and a short neck, even for a wallaby, and the fur around its eyes is red. To the left of it is a stake with a zip-tied cone and a few shrubs.

rereading ender's game, it still feels wild how much of the writing style and ideals are echoed decades later in the rationalist community

im sorry but i really could not care less about the housing market downturn. if your life's investment strategy is based around unfairly extracting money from younger and poorer borrowers, you should expect for those people to support policy change and kill your investments

more chaucer thoughts: - i am grateful for writing standardisation (Lat se = let's see) - does taking a pilates class teach you how to judge in a roman courtroom? - right to bear armes has a more silly profane interpretation of the right to bear God

"why don't men wear more color." i only dress for the approval of dogs, who mostly see blue, white, gray, black, and brown in the way that we do, so i don't wear other colors.

I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview. IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing. Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵
