I think in Zeta Quattro should have shown up as a girl and no one at the AEUG mentions it. When she meets the white base members they can tell who she is but they're too nervous to say anything about it, except for Amuro who is uncomfortable with the weird envy he gets seeing her like that.

I think the lack of closure is kind of the point, but it still stings. All these adults ruining the world, and maybe sometimes just love isn’t enough to save it. But the love is still there, and it still mattered.
