This by Ben Hall, Charles Clover & @henryjfoy.ft.com is excellent. Financing & building up European defence kit is only the beginning (although we cannot replicate the US way of war); learning to trust each other & agreeing on chains of command, without the US in the lead, is the bigger problem.
