Curious, globally minded, and actively engaged with both local and international issues. While maintaining strong ties to Australia, I also retain a deep interest in Dutch, Flemish language and culture.

Fascism in 1930s Germany was enabled by powerful corporations as well as politicians. Today, tech billionaires, AI projects, and vast data centers are becoming deeply entwined with US government power. How many parallels do we need to see before asking difficult questions?

If military aggression from the US & Israel didn't reopen oil shipments, Trump appears ready to pressure trading partners to stop buying from or selling to Iran. He has called it an "economic D-Day" for Iran. Before pursuing this approach, did he discuss it with Xi Jinping? I doubt it!

Why do people support right-wing policies against their interests? Is life in the US Rust Belt better under Trump? Are Hungary, Czechia, Croatia and Slovakia economically flourishing? What are the benefits of racism, anti-renewables, remigration, climate denial and concentrated utilities? I wonder.

Promising news from the renewable energy front: A Dutch firm will import CATL sodium-ion batteries to Europe, marking a commercial breakthrough. Made from abundant, low-cost sodium instead of lithium, they would lower renewable-energy storage costs and are ideal for large stationary storage systems.
