Credit where it's due, that was an amazing speech by Andy Burnham. My three tests were there (social care, water & renewable energy prices decoupling from fossil fuels). Bonus points for electoral reform, closer ties with the EU due to Brexit failure, housing & mental health services for kids.

It's been a good day. The local Fire Station crew came to do a fire alarm check up on our house* & arrived in their Fire Engine! Z was thrilled. He got to sit in the cab with all the lights flashing! *No fire, just a standard check for vulnerable adults.

This is one reason why we need disabled political representatives, to remind everyone in decision making positions that this discrim happens every day, all of the time. It shouldn't just be us, but we do need to be there. We also need clearer, and more rapid enforcement for accessibility.

Learned 2 lessons on Sunday: 1. I need a stick with a jar on the end to be able to collect river water without getting into the river myself. 2. It might only look knee deep but it's worth checking with a long stick BEFORE you take the plunge in your wellies.

Picked up my electric guitar this evening & really enjoyed playing. I forget how much easier she is to play than my acoustic. Tonight's practice was Zombie by the Cranberries, Hurt by NIN & Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Really resets my brain back to calm mode.

NIMBYism will kill us all in the UK. We need more reservoirs & we need more clean energy but try to build anything & you get NIMBYISM. If you're an ordinary person, the green spaces you see all around you are privately owned. Solar farms & reservoirs make it productive for you & the environment.

There's a community woodland project in the village where I live. Looks like due to the dedication of a few volunteers, the youngest trees have mostly survived the drought. We're going to continue to water them once a week until the winter arrives.

My Dad had these tiny jewellery screwdrivers, they lived in our kitchen junk drawer & we thought them sacred objects. When he died, I inherited them. They live in my home office junk drawer. I just used them to fix the tiny screw on my glasses. Miss you Dad.
