TV makers like to put a *lot* of tracking code in their systems (hence the Adguard comment in OP), I much prefer using it as a "dumb" display and just plugging in the smart stuff manually

what ssd have you got? cheap ones with tiny caches can wreck performance--or so I've heard, I've never experienced it myself i have always just bought the WD blue NVMe/SATA (if you don't have an m.2 slot) drives & they work perfectly.

Though I think the killer feature (for me at least) is the "custom feeds" option. Instead of only having Following, Local, Federated feeds, there is a real "Discover"/"For Your" experience where I can see new things from people I don't follow + a giant list of custom community feeds.

The issue with Mastodon is that people are divided by their home servers and is truly "no algorithm" (pretty sure it is only chronological) Bluesky is (despite the claims) far more centralized, where people only host their own data (the PDS), and Bluesky runs everything else (for now)

+ additionally, required-mutual wouldn't be much help to follow-happy users, of which I have encountered several, and would be ripe for targeting

helpimnotdrowning💣🦋🍭🪶↝⛓️📛💌🏹 @helpimnotdrowning.net · 29/11/2024

Though I can forsee an abuse vector: Users currently aren't notified if they are put into starterpacks, so malicious accounts could add abusive marks onto users w/o their knowledge (if a label is customizable) Maybe a pack owner and a to-be pack member would need to be mutuals beforehand?

110 1

helpimnotdrowning💣🦋🍭🪶↝⛓️📛💌🏹 @helpimnotdrowning.net · 29/11/2024

Maybe a labeler/starterpack-like system where an account can make verification "packs" that, upon user subscription, adds some label with some identifier to those in the pack. Like twitters business verification, but users can pick their verifications, and pack owners can vet entry!

generally, most things like desktop envs (KDE, GNOME, Xfce, ...), display protocols (Xorg, Wayland), libraries (anywhere from super outdated to "i built this from git master"), and even libc (glibc, musl) can vary *wildly*, which means you have to work around a LOT of things that will go wrong.

helpimnotdrowning💣🦋🍭🪶↝⛓️📛💌🏹 @helpimnotdrowning.net · 23/11/2024

... broken clipboard alias under Wayland (tries to run xclip instead of wl-copy/paste), but I have a patch awaiting review for that. I personally have more fun writing Powershell than bash, but that's not true for everyone! It's certainly not Linux-native, but I'm making it work.

helpimnotdrowning💣🦋🍭🪶↝⛓️📛💌🏹 @helpimnotdrowning.net · 23/11/2024

i can download a C# library from wherever and import it to use it's types and methods, but I'm still in a usable shell that works like one would expect (with variance ofc). though it does have some issues still, like not being able to use named arguments in functions, or broken clipboard... (1/2)

helpimnotdrowning💣🦋🍭🪶↝⛓️📛💌🏹 @helpimnotdrowning.net · 23/11/2024

i don't mean this in a "haha better than you" way, sorry if it sounded like that! I mean that the APIs are easily accessible since "everything is an object", along with being able to import arbitrary .NET libraries. I like the convenience, but there are things that I have to drop into bash for.

(correction: xcopy -> xclip !) pwsh's Set-Clipboard automatically switches between pbcopy/paste, xclip, and Windows (has a native method); it currently can't deal with Wayland in wl-copy/paste, but I have a merge awaiting review for that

helpimnotdrowning💣🦋🍭🪶↝⛓️📛💌🏹 @helpimnotdrowning.net · 20/11/2024

... if its over SSH it gets more complicated since your terminal needs to support OSC 52, which is a mixed bag, and your copy tool also needs to aswell (i only know that PowerShell 7.4+ has `Set-Clipboard -AsOSC52`

110 1

helpimnotdrowning💣🦋🍭🪶↝⛓️📛💌🏹 @helpimnotdrowning.net · 20/11/2024

if it's on your machine, you can pipe to `xcopy` (on Xorg), `wl-copy` (part of wl-clipboard, on Wayland), `pbcopy` (on macOS), or `clip.exe` (on Windows) (cont.)

actually maybe a little bit less than a decade, I used to have an older different wacom tablet, but I broke the pen, and a replacement pen would've cost the same as a ctl-490 new (at the time), so I got that instead

i have owned a wacom ctl-490 for probably the last decade & it still works the same as day 1! admt, I haven't properly drawn on it in a *very* long time, then used it for osu! for a while, now it's sat mostly dormant... but it works! on ebay they seem to be like US$20 ! www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_...

i would imagine holo talents would all have usernames under the hololivepro.com namespace for self-verification instead of staying in the normal bsky.social namespace (ex @ninomaeinanis.hololivepro.com), so it wouldn't be needed
