MDOT: we need 2x the budget to maintain our current roads. Also MDOT: we are going to try to implement 29 different things simultaneously

handy charts for people concerned about restricting bicycle\e-bicycle usage. they only account for 2% of injury and under 1% of all crashes last year in MI. the other 99% is cars

The FY2027 budget is $2.5B. MDOT is recommending doubling the road budget just to maintain existing infrastructure
graph of Michigan DOT pavement conditions vs investment. showing that within 3 years 50% of roads will be poor condition, unless $2.3B additional annually is spent to keep it above at the federally required 90%

Stormwater Runoff
Roadways are significant contributors of urban runoff to
local natural resources. Urban runoff challenges are typically
lumped into both runoff quantity and runoff quality categories. The extent of local, regional, and national watershed planning efforts in urban areas has demonstrated that urban streams are impacted by excessive stormwater runoff volumes combined with excessive pollutant loading following channel forming rain events. Within the Southeast Michigan region, there are over 23,400 miles of roadways
with approximately 245 square miles of impervious cover. Annually this equates to approximately 100 billion gallons of runoff with more than 100 tons of phosphorus and 34,000 tons of sediment.

in Detroit, every lane mile of road contributes a million gallons per year to water runoff compared to only 20,000 gallons for grass. SEMCOG identified hundreds of lane miles that could be removed with no impact to car LOS. (EPA storm water calculator, semcog excess road capacity)

the last event I went to before covid shutdown was a burnout in a parking lot event, it was a blast. it was safe. it was on private property so the cops "couldnt" shut it down. is city policy enabling safe behavior or sweeping it under a rug?

absolutely insane firefox isnt supported in the year of 2025. especially because they are checking browser type and blocking based on that, not actual support issue. worse than the IE only days of the early 00's.
Formula 1 F1tv doesnt support any browser except chrome based browsers. it is doing a user agent (browser brand) check and denying any non-chrome based browser

"He's probably thinking about other girls" meme format. woman and man in bed both awake, girl looking jealous. above the man in a thought bubble is a diagram of a two stroke motor. because he is thinking about how they do the same steps as a four stroke motor but in half the strokes.

how to disable: 1 go to studio.youtube.com 2 bottom left: Settings 3 side menu: Channel 4 tab: Advanced Settings 5 scroll down and turn OFF Video Quality Enhancements (vague name so it can include anything in the future) 6 while youre there make sure third party training is also off
youtube channel settings showing how to disable 'video quality enhancements' which really means automatic AI upscaling which will create artifacts and hallucinations not in the original video.

the last 5 years MDOT has been working on redesigning Michigan Ave, PEL included center or side running BRT. Unfortunately they rolled back most of the improvements. bike lane is moving from street to sidewalk and adding some concrete bump outs. www.michigan.gov/mdot/project...
