You probably know Mexicantown Bakery for the treats and coffee, but did you know the building is more than 130 years old? Before it became an iconic Southwest #Detroit bakery, it was one of many Odd Fellows Halls in the city. New video live on my channel now: youtu.be/_RpEMkwX1IQ

I wish the #USL didn't have playoffs. Just make the regular-season winners the champions. They're trying to make late-season matches mean more, but if it were just based on the table, they'd mean even more. Let the East and West champs play for a ceremonial championship after if you're so inclined.

So, what's next for the Roberts Brass Company Building on Fort Street? In this snippet from my video, I talk about what's going on with the property now and what I would do with it if I had unlimited money. What would you do with it if you had the cash? Check out the full video: youtu.be/CvoNVNLe7Kg

This week's video is about Roberts Brass on Fort Street, a building that's seen everything from the manufacture of brass fittings to a pack of dogs that mauled a man in 2023. IMO, this is one of the most unique industrial buildings still standing in Detroit. Watch the video: youtu.be/CvoNVNLe7Kg

This former furniture warehouse/restaurant equipment business has sat vacant for years. The building, made famous by a stunning Pat Perry mural, offers a look at how Gratiot Avenue has changed over the past century and what to expect for its future. I'm sick and tired of nobody doing the hard hitting journalism that we need right now, so I've taken it upon myself to research a few things.

This week's video is on this century-plus-year-old structure, which had stints as a cigar factory, theater, clamp company, ice cream cone manufacturing facility, union hall, and church. Plus, I dive into how I feel the city is holding this neighborhood back. New video: youtu.be/lCLhQC6cz-Y

I work close to Ford's Michigan Central Mobility Innovation District @ MCS. They must force their workers to drive Ford vehicles because there are huge Ford Broncos everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. Reminder: the MOST fuel-efficient Ford Bronco gets 21 miles per gallon. This reads like a joke.

Here's some photos from around #Detroit over the last 5 days or so. I took a walk around the neighborhood after the tornado came through to check out the damage and was greeted with this fantastic display.

Wild how close this came to our house. Considering the path, we're lucky it didn't do more damage.

This historic Detroit building was once home to a Japanese tea company, a confectionery, and a barbershop, offering a glimpse into the people and businesses that shaped the North End neighborhood. This long-abandoned structure could soon be demolished. Video on my channel now: youtu.be/K43yHAkWiT0

A few days ago, my friend and I were getting photos and videos in Riverside Park for work, and a guy approached us wearing Meta Glasses that were recording. He asked if we wanted to buy any weed or shrooms. It was the first time I saw someone recording me with Meta Glasses. It was weird.

This building, once home to a saloon, bank, and longtime neighborhood florist, illustrates the history of the Polish community that grew around St. Hedwig. Today, that legacy is in jeopardy thanks to a fire. Sound on for church bells. New video live on my channel now: youtu.be/9P7V853QAtE

Some just-after-sunset photos from walks this week. I’m super amped that the weather is finally getting cooler, especially at night. There’s something special about a neighborhood walk as the last light fades from the sky and a cool wind rolls in.

This winter, my drone flew off unexpectedly. It still had a signal, and this was the image. Because of the siding on that one visible house, I was able to find it, talk to the homeowner, and get my drone back. I've been scared to fly it since!

We've had a lot of moody skies lately. This one is after sunset, and the image is two exposures: one metered for the house, the other for the sky. I have far from mastered this technique, but the extra color is a fun bonus.

St. Hyacinth RC Church in the Poletown neighborhood on the east side of #Detroit as darkness rolls in. The parish was organized in 1907, and this church building was completed in 1924. I photograph this building often due to its proximity to my home, and I volunteer at its community events.
