I miss when someone had a cool idea or piece of art or fursuit everyone would come together and celebrate how amazing of a contribution to the community it was. Now it’s all about unhealthy competition. Where did all the love go? Where is the passion? I want it back.

Definitely capitalism plays a huge part in how it conditions everyone and makes everything harder to experience with genuine curiosity. I really do mourn the older days when is felt like a party to drive across state, see your friends and get blasted in a random hotel for a few days.

I guess what I’m really trying to say is that I miss when it was smaller. You didn’t need as many things in common with people to form a bond. It was literally just like “hey look at this piece of art of my sona” “wow that’s really neat, say…. we’re furries do you wanna go get lunch?”

I remember the days where you could pour your heart out and people would swoop in to tell you that you’re not alone. Instead if you’re vulnerable in any way it feels like you’re inches away from getting emotionally blackmailed by shady actors. I miss when it felt raw.

Well there is huge overlap with the greater queer community of course, but I’m more talking about just interacting and curating your spaces to be specifically members of the subculture. I interface with the art but not the community so I guess that could be its own special facet.

The kinda vibes I get from it now are that everyone wants to be marketable and the best version of themselves but are afraid to admit that they have flaws or issues that they’re working on. It’s in your face all the time. There’s a lack of passion anymore when everyone is trying to become a brand.

I keep trying to reintegrate or reinterface with the greater furry community outside of art but every single time I’m hit with how insufferable immature unreasonable and annoying at least 80% of the characters are.
