You mean the glottis I think? It’s also very visible in lizards and birds. It’s the entrance to the trachea

That’s called a glottis, it’s the entrance to the trachea. Very visible in a lot of extant reptiles and birds, such as this hawk and snake

It really takes a lot of forethought and prep to get a 3D printed sculpture this big to be structurally sound and durable. But investing the time in advance saves a LOT of headache down the track. Especially if duplicates end up being needed

Rigged up some lighting effects by pulling apart some cheap LED tealights and soldering the components together. I think next time I'd have the chest flicker and keep the eyes as a steady glow but I'm pretty happy with it nonetheless.

That it can do stuff like this is insane to me, since I started with FDM almost a decade ago. It's not replacing resin for me any time soon, but I love printing stuff and not have to do all the messy washing and post-cure

FDM prints continue to impress me, this Asian tusker came out nice and clean. I find the matte filaments kind of hard to photograph though

Thank you! I just draw them on, then mask each scale and pull them out with the move tool as required. Not really a fast or efficient way of working, but unfortunately I haven't found a good shortcut for snake heads that looks good
