I’m watching the severe risk today, namely the one in my backyard here in New York. Looks like it’ll be short lived, but potent if it hits right. A conditional tornado risk was added to account for any supercell development as well. This might be interesting!

Cyclone Narelle has been a journey to track… This basin hasn’t been on my radar so much, so every storm tracked here feels like new territory to me. Not only a constant sense of excitement for that reason but also for the fact that 2026 is gearing up for, what I presume will be, a big EPAC season.

An area which experiences all four seasons proper sounds so fascinating on paper, but phew… We get the worst of both worlds! -20 wind chill, then 6 months later 105 heat index… I must say though, I love sending pictures of the autumn trees to those who don’t see it happen in person!

Today’s wind risk, that being a CIG1 60%, was a little overestimated. In the minds of everybody living there of course, that’s welcome. There was too much convection and early bird stragglers amongst the juices of the event area to let it marinate, so we got a slopfest. Disruptive, not significant!
