New PhDs applying for jobs, can't stress enough the importance of ADDRESSING THE SELECTION CRITERIA! You're unlikely to get to interview if you send off a general cover letter & CV. Lab heads, please reinforce this with your students. I was caught out thinking my student knew ... but they didn't. 🧪
