A pale blue-grey Atlantic sky.
Rafael stands on rocks breaking the surface of the grey ocean, the water tipped white where it crashes into stone toward the shore. A tall pillar of a wave arcs around and over him, hollow in the centre from where he leans forward, shirtless. his wet hair hangs messy, whipping and snapping in the sharp breeze. he's taken steps toward you, left leg in the water now. right arm extended behind him, hand splayed clawlike, palm facing the water like he's the one forcing it to breach. and maybe he is.

his face is contorted in desperate frustration. yelling something we can't hear, half-fury, half-imploring.

A sequel.
Close-up now, the water surrounding Rafael, framing his shoulders and face in its dark shadow as we catch it here, its enveloping blurred in mid-motion as it plunges over him. But we can imagine it caught in slow motion here.
His hair hangs looser now, some plastered to his face, untouched by the breeze now that he's withdrawn into the pocket of the cresting water. His head is bent low but not forward. Mouth wide, brought hoarsely to grief. Face wet, tears dripping from his nose and chin. Heartbroken keening drowned out. Time resumes, it does not stop. Not now and not ever.

Focus
