Another great year in the CASI Lab! We completed data collection for a handful of studies and launched a brand new 5-year R01 project supported by the NIDCD (more to come on that exciting news)! We can't wait to share more of our findings and see where 2026 leads!

I'm thrilled to share the latest #CASILab paper, out now in @imagingneurosci.bsky.social! We show that cross-modal neuroplasticity is dependent on auditory experience in children who wear hearing aids, and that neuroplasticity is related to verbal outcomes. Check it out! doi.org/10.1162/IMAG...

Cross-modal impact of auditory experience on visual cortical entrainment in children who are hard-of-hearing
Abstract. Cross-modal neuroplasticity is a well-studied phenomenon whereby in the absence of sensory input (e.g., in individuals who are deaf or blind), the sensory cortices of the affected modality a...

Really excited to share the latest #CASILab publication that is my grad student Mike's first, first-authored publication! 🥳 We show how hearing loss relates to alterations in auditory entrainment, and how these changes are impacted by hearing aid use. Check it out! tinyurl.com/ymjbpnye

Super proud to say the #CASILab got to ring the bell 🔔 yesterday to celebrate the end of data collection for one of our studies! Our team recruited almost 140 participants from 20 different states and completed over 800 hours of testing, including #MEG, #MRI, neuropsych, and audiology exams. Whew! 🎉

The NIH by charts: It will not be easy to replace funding frozen and terminated by the agency. It is by far the global leader in biomedical funding, and, as many have told me: an absolute gold standard in how to review and fund research. Our full analysis here: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
