Xcel confirmed customers in the Colorado AC Rewards program were locked out of their smart thermostats on Tuesday. "It's a voluntary program. Let's remember that this is something that customers choose to be a part of based on the incentives," Emmett Romine, VP, Xcel www.denver7.com/news/contact...

Screenshot from the article:
"On social media, dozens of Xcel customers complained of similar experiences — some reporting home temperatures as high as 88 degrees.

Xcel confirmed to Contact Denver7 that 22,000 customers who had signed up for the Colorado AC Rewards program were locked out of their smart thermostats for hours on Tuesday.

"It's a voluntary program. Let's remember that this is something that customers choose to be a part of based on the incentives," said Emmett Romine, vice president of customer solutions and innovation at Xcel.

Customers receive a $100 credit for enrolling in the program and $25 annually, but Romine said customers also agree to give up some control to save energy and money and make the system more reliable."

Several original posts about this are now dead. Does anyone have any live information about Xcel Energy taking over smart thermostats during the heat wave in Colorado?

Right down to the dates! "I have read that the period of upheaval that journalists have begun to refer to as "the Apocalypse " or more commonly "the Pox" lasted from 2015-2030—a decade and a half of chaos." —Parable of the Talents, Octavia Butler

"From Memories of Other Worlds by Taylor Franklin Bankole

I have read that the period of upheaval that journalists have begun to refer to as "the Apocalypse " or more commonly "the Pox" lasted from 2015-2030—a decade and a half of chaos. This is untrue. The Pox has been a much longer torment. It began well before 2015, perhaps even before the turn of the millennium. It has not ended."

I have loved horror since I was a teenager, the weirder the better, especially when it gives voice to how we don’t fit the world, and how we might. The 15yo pressed it into my hand and said “I love this book so much; you have to read it,” and so of course I did.
