I made a repertoire database that you can add your pieces to - tap in the multiphonics you've used so clarinet players can see what's being used in your work and include a recording that'll embed automatically! Soft launch has gone so well. Just over 50 users now! Such a thrill. And yesterday someone posted a bit of feedback in the forum which was genuinely so helpful so I implemented everything this morning. I really want to go proper live now.

Ok, I think the app is done. I think I might hit go on the soft launch tomorrow. Might spend today adding some more contrabass multiphonics...

I put a tool in my admin panel to check for duplicated fingerings and I found about 30 (oops - but there were 614 fingerings total so human error is likely), and it was SO satisfying to start tidying them all up. Urgent to do it too since my clarinetist beta tester has started work today 🥰

Wouldn't it be cool if suddenly there was just this huge proliferation of multiphonic-heavy clarinet music because the app just makes it so easy to be creative with them all? Oh man I could die happy to think I helped bring that kind of joy into the world 🤣

Since it was my birthday last week, I bought myself a present: a new contrabass clarinet mouthpiece from JD Woodwinds. 3D printed, and 1/3 of the price of other models. Arrived from the US in less than a week. And it plays like a dream. Agility + dynamic control are up 10x.

Spent all day recording Meredith Monk on my glorious contrabass clarinet and I love playing it so much and please can more people book me to do so? Please? I really don’t get to take her out often enough. She’s low and a bit farty and really just delightful.

I don't know how true this is but I've been seeing people online saying that research is showing that input is far more important than output in language learning, advocating 80%-90% input experiences... so this would do that!

I'm not the only instrumental studio in this position, but interesting to see how many professional clarinetists are signing up for Darmstadt - I have feeling younger players just don't know about it. Still some spaces in the clarinet studio so please tell your friends, today is last day to apply!
