Christmas 2025 was only 6 months ago when Opus came out and exploded the software scene. 6 months from "oh I guess AI is getting good now" to the government saying "you can't all have access to AI" was fast. Anyone on a sabbatical last year and coming back now? What a head spin.

This is a social norm that is different for isolated folks in tech though. You and I are the outliers... Most developers in general already have a hard enough time interacting and getting ghosted feels personal to them after really putting themselves out there. I have empathy, but you're right.

It's amazing how much more mentally tired I am working with agents. My prefrontal cortex is sore from constant use. Turns out hand coding was the part that was a familiar pattern and provided a bit of a critical thinking break. The planning of tasks continuously is demanding.

That which gets measured gets gamified. You aren't good at something because you spent the least or the most amount of resources on it. You are good at it because you have descernment of what works best. Imagine if recipes did this. Taste should be the driver of the outcome.

It's the end of May. Real progress towards useful models hit the industry during the winter holidays. It's been 6 months. Feels like 6 years at this point.

Be relentless and resilient. This is the year of both for tech professionals.

Have teams outside of engineering at your company seen a lot of traction using AI agents now? Just mine? They are really excited about what is possible now.
