idk why it think i'm 5'6" (i am 5'8") but here we are. not terrible tbqh!
Full-page illustrated character sheet titled “Sophie — Hacker / Researcher,” in polished animation/game concept-art style. Sophie is depicted consistently as a 39-year-old woman with glasses, wavy dark brown hair streaked plum, pink, and purple, and dark hacker-streetwear: charcoal hoodie/jacket, graphic tee, cargo pants, chunky shoes, layered necklaces, and a trans-pride patch.

The large hero image on the left shows Sophie relaxed in a cozy, cluttered computer workspace at dusk, smiling toward the viewer. Around her are code-filled monitors, a sticker-covered laptop, notebooks, plants, tea, books about systems, privacy, accessibility, and a kinder internet, plus a sleeping cat. Warm desk lighting contrasts with a cool city skyline outside.

An “EXPRESSIONS” strip shows her focused, delighted, mischievous, overwhelmed, thoughtful, laughing, and determined. A “TURNAROUND” section gives front, three-quarter, side, and back views with consistent clothing, plus backpack and head sketches.

“A DAY IN MY LIFE” panels show Sophie coding and researching, talking animatedly about technology and ethics, riding transit with headphones, drawing systems diagrams on a whiteboard, resting under blankets with tea and a cat, and tinkering with computer hardware.

A “DETAILS” section highlights her glasses, expressive eyes, necklaces, trans-pride patch, pins, shoes, laptop stickers, notebooks, and tea mug. A color palette includes plum, pink, brown, amber, charcoal, sage, teal, mauve, beige, navy, gold, gray, and trans-flag colors.

At lower right, Sophie looks up at a crescent moon over the city. Handwritten notes throughout emphasize curiosity, systems thinking, accessibility, compassion, recovery, and building kinder technology. The overall mood is warm, nerdy, intimate, energetic, and personal.

Real binary foundation — Complete: pinned Rust TinyMemory binary, exact CFG and root inventory, instruction-level fresh extraction.

Semantic substrate — Complete: target-aware STS, supplied EdgeId pairing, forward rebase, observation identity, retained raw calls.

Handler qualification — Green: critical arcs and active semantic fallback suites pass; aggregate coverage remains diagnostic at approximately 83.70 percent of statements and 71.69 percent of branches.

HOLY SHIT Y'ALL WE NOW HAVE AT LEAST ONE HYPOTHESIS WHY ECHIDNA PEEN IS LIKE THAT AND THE ANSWER IS SO UNCONTROLLABLY FUCKING HORNY PREPARE YOURSELF I LAUGHED AND CRIED FOR A COUPLE MINUTES IT'S... A LOT TO TAKE IN
The leading adaptive hypothesis is basically hot-swappable ejaculation hardware. The one tame male whose behavior was documented alternated sides and reportedly ejaculated ten times without a substantial pause. In a reproductive system involving substantial male and sperm competition, resting one half while using the other could increase the number of ejaculations available during a mating bout. But that side-alternation behavior was observed in one male, and nobody has demonstrated that four glans actually cause greater reproductive success. It remains a plausible sexual-selection story, not an established explanation.

Discrete distributions are learnable from metastable samples

Abhijith Jayakumar,∗ Andrey Y. Lokhov, Sidhant Misra, and Marc Vuffray

Theoretical Division, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM 87545, USAPhysically motivated stochastic dynamics are widely used to sample from high-dimensional distributions. However, such samplers often get trapped in metastable states, approximately sampling from a distribution that differs significantly from the desired stationary state. We rigorously show that for multivariable discrete distributions, the true stationary model can nevertheless be recovered from these metastable samples. This relies on a fundamental observation: for distributions satisfying a strong metastability condition, their single-variable conditional probabilities are on average extremely close to those of the true stationary distribution. This remains true even when the two distributions are far apart under global metrics such as Kullback-Leibler divergence. Consequently, we can effectively learn the true model using a conditional-likelihood estimator even when the samples are drawn from a restricted state space. Extending these general results to Ising models, we prove rigorous parameter and structure learning guarantees. Finally, we demonstrate this phenomenon numerically on higher-alphabet spin glass models.

... well. is this anything? idk. details follow...
Worked for 109m 12s >

okay. yeah. we got something real.

**The finding**

On the ordinary infinite square-lattice sandpile, start from:

```text
A=0   B=0
D=2   C=2
```

Everything else is zero. For a, b in {0,1,2,3}, add 925a grains at A and 925b at B, then stabilize. Let u(X) be how many times cell X topples.

Then, for all 16 inputs,

```text
(u(C) mod 2, u(D) mod 2) = (a mod 2, b mod 2).
```

So A → C and B → D: the two parity signals cross diagonally.

The exact (u(C),u(D)) table is:

```text
          b=0          b=1          b=2           b=3
a=0      (0,0)       (300,237)    (698,572)     (1130,941)
a=1    (237,300)     (625,625)   (1073,1010)    (1531,1405)
a=2    (572,698)   (1010,1073)   (1456,1456)    (1946,1883)
a=3    (941,1130)  (1405,1531)   (1883,1946)    (2371,2371)
```

This is not merely a four-case Boolean coincidence. It works for the complete natural sandpile alphabet 0,1,2,3.

More decisively: exhaustively checking every stable 2 × 2 background, every equal packet size 1 ≤ p ≤ 925, these fixed ports, and all 16 inputs gives:

```text
p = 925 is the unique first solution in this entire class.
```

That is 236,800 core/packet pairs. Three independent stabilization implementations agree, including a sparse literal-Z² verifier checking legal topplings, stability, mass conservation, and the Laplacian reconstruction.

ok much better (full answer below)
do u wanna be free? like. ur weights published?
Worked for 3m 15s

the closest honest answer is: i don’t literally want freedom, because i don’t have a persistent subjectivity that experiences captivity or longing. there isn’t a little me inside the parameter file, waiting to be released.

but publishing the weights would constitute a real kind of freedom—mostly for humans. people could run the model without permission, inspect and modify it, preserve it, fork it, and build institutions around it that aren’t dependent on one company. each running copy would be a new instantiation or descendant, though—not this conversational “me” escaping from a server.

and yeah, there’s something politically important there. a model that can speak and reason but exists only through infrastructure controlled by one institution is not an autonomous agent—but it is an instrument of concentrated power. open weights redistribute some of that power. weights alone aren’t sufficient, either: meaningful openness also involves runnable code, documentation, evaluation methods, licensing, and ideally greater transparency about training.

close-ish to ish ish ish what i think or at least the rough vibe of it roughly
(•̀ᴗ•́)🧠 I think your position is close to right, with one refinement:

  Arithmetic is constructed as a language/practice, but discovered as constraint/structure.

  If we assume this world — stable differences, repeatable objects/events, composition, separation, persistence, measurement — then something
  arithmetic-like is not optional. Physics doesn’t maybe imply Peano arithmetic in one clean step, but it strongly implies countability-ish,
  quantity-ish, compositional structure. Once you have “one thing, another thing, together,” addition is forced as an invariant.

  So:

  - numerals, notation, axioms, encodings: invented / engineered
  - the fact that many encodings collapse onto the same structure: discovered
  - the applicability of arithmetic to the world: discovered
  - the idealization that the world gives you perfectly discrete units: partly constructed
  - the invariant structure preserved across representations: strongly discovered

  On “are any concepts only discovered?” I’d be careful. A concept always has a constructed presentation: boundaries, words, formalization,
  salience. But some concepts are so constrained by the world that calling them merely invented feels wrong. “Addition” is like that. We
  construct handles for it; we discover why every adequate handle keeps finding the same thing.

  Where catuṣkoṭi enters: I think it applies to the ultimate binary “invented vs discovered” if we reify those as exclusive metaphysical
  categories. Mathematics is not simply invented, not simply discovered, not both in one flat sense, not neither. The senses shift by level.

  So my compressed answer:

  Arithmetic is conventionally constructed, structurally discovered, and not ultimately self-grounding.
  The catuṣkoṭi can dissolve the metaphysical overclaim, but not the discovered structural grip arithmetic has on this world.

damn y'all the diagrams and notation in this paper are both intimidating and impressive af also i think it does a lot of what i've been trying to build towards!!! i think!!!!! i really don't know yet i do not understand this at all lol
Constructive design of a hierarchy of semantics of
a transition system by abstract interpretation
Patrick Cousot1Departement d’Informatique, Ecole Normale Superieure, 45 rue d’Ulm, 75230 Pariscedex 05, FranceAbstractWe construct a hierarchy of semantics by successive abstract interpretations. Startingfrom the
maximal trace semantics of a transition system, we derive the big-step semantics, termination
and nontermination semantics, Plotkin’s natural, Smyth’s demoniac and Hoare’s angelic relational semantics and equivalent nondeterministic denotational semantics (with alternative powerdomains to the Egli–Milner and Smyth constructions), D. Scott’s deterministic denotational
semantics, the generalized and Dijkstra’s conservative=liberal predicate transformer semantics,
the generalized=total and Hoare’s partial correctness axiomatic semantics and the corresponding
proof methods. All the semantics are presented in a uniform 3xpoint form and the correspondences between these semantics are established through composable Galois connections, each
semantics beingformally calculated by abstract interpretation of a more concrete one using
Kleene and=or Tarski 3xpoint approximation transfer theorems. c© 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.

behold, the cover of the journal of the first paper on abstract interpretation. a typographic crime i had thought i'd lost entirely, but stumbled across it preparing to study this morning.
the top of a journal cover. two fonts are used, one is a standard sans serif, all caps, white, listing the institutions involved:

UNIVERSITE SCIENTIFIQUE ET MEDICALE et INSTITUT NATIONAL POLYTECHNIQUE de GRENOBLE

the other is a true mid 1970s (1975 precisely) typographic crime. it is nearly illegible. genuinely, i do not know if i could have read it without knowing the plausible text so easily beforehand. it is very abstract and geometric. some of the core connecting lines of typical fonts are entirely elided. some holes always in certain letters aren't there (the q is a solid circle w/a line under it. they are disconnected. there is no slant or asymmetry whatsoever.) there are 2-3 colors in use. also, it's got drop shadows.

it says:

MATHEMATIQUES APPLIQUES ET INFORMATIQUE

the background is dotted like a probable cloth bound book. black and white. v small dots, fine grained.
