this is probably where i'm at rn with raising sims. need to finish off hanako games' output, and am understandably wary of princess maker given my experience with 2 but have heard latter entries are less. gestures vaguely. you Know

narrative also showed its hand a bit *too* early for my liking. as this particular form of raising sim matures comes a collective understanding of conventions, structural underpinnings with the potential for disruption but such a shift is made known less than two hours in. boooo

my fairy princess demo was fun but low-key pmo'd bc what do u mean it has -40+ untranslated lines (probably more idk) - some weirdly tl'd lines i struggled to parse - what is clearly an editor's note left in - unintentional pronoun shifting for an NPC - at least 6 different art styles - and more!!!

you know, dio *did* come to mind when i saw this character's pose initially, but thought 'a fluke, surely'... with this new training illustration, however, no doubt that association was the intention heh

playing my fairy princess' demo (raising sim in the vein of other princess titles, with an emphasis on chinese folklore and the supernatural) and this girl. she's going places

was pleasantly surprised to see gaopoweroo had a maison de fleur collab last year as well. for a relatively niche sanrio addition, all things considered, she's doing fabulously

why are atelier games filled with sexpests omfg rorona's instance is particularly egregious mind as this astrid figure has not only taken rorona in, becoming an employer of sorts, but she also appears to get along swimmingly with the parents?! what a disturbing situation played for laughs...

⋆𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐞 a modest take on medieval fantasy life, our heroine's greatest trials amount to brewing lotions + potions while ideally not flunking all her exams. fortunately less exasperating than ayesha (rorona awaits and i approach it with FEAR), though shows its age with system limitations

⋆𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐨 (𝐬𝟏) can all but hear the canned laugh track echo through each ep's script (seth rogan in the hot seat so make of that what you will), but beneath the groan-inducing sitcom cadence lies an understandable frustration with the increasingly ouroboric, capitalist nature of the film industry

⋆𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 a worthy addition to the garden where volcano princess triumphantly blossomed, MP earns its place as a raising sim where NG+ runs become an addictive must recontextualizing all that came before. i cried! thankfully super wholesome, even the 'powder' peddling is not what it seems!

⋆𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲: 𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐢𝐧 top-notch banter and idiosyncratic non-sequiturs, venom pouring from the lips of fluffy woodland creatures with glossy eyes; undead horrors well-versed in the art of camp. arcane MacGuffinry of it all wears somewhat thin but worth it to see larian's foundational bg3 blocks

⋆𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 natural endpoint of minky momo hysteria with its fandom's fervour oozing through the magical girl genre in thick globules, BR this profoundly uncomfortable experience implicating the player as an exploitative observer all but leading pixelated hands to the shower, bath, destruction
