Back from Chile, and FONDECYT-funded collaborations with Pontificia Universidad Católica in the Nevados de Chillán. Developing geothermal fluid flow models with PhD student Valentina Mura. Fascinating rocks, beautiful country, great company. #JohnBrowning @geosolutions.bsky.social #geothermal

just because some great scientists volunteer for journals run by particular publishers, does not mean YOU should volunteer too -- your time and expertise are too valuable to throw away to for-profit publishers. Support society journals and volunteer where benefits stay in the research community!
screen grab of an email which reads "Thanks for the invitation but I don't work with MDPI due to its involvement with predatory publishing practices and general harm done to the research community by this business model. The invitation to edit an issue only peripherally related to my expertise reinforces my impression of the lack of meaningful scientific oversight at this publishing house. "
