I wonder how well CI -aaS platforms are doing these days. Do their backs hurt from all the cartoon moneybags they have to carry around? If you're using CI, check your dashboard to see how much more execution is being driven by ol' claudie-claude

We have a team of four astronauts going to the moon and back, but there's a group of people online concerned with how Apple and Nutella may not capitalize on the marketing opportunity since their products are being used in space... The grindset is real and I don't know how I feel about it

This reads like a lot of the "do you really need jQuery?" Articles from 10-15 years ago I'm so happy with how far CSS has come blog.gitbutler.com/the-great-cs... Great writeup!

The Great CSS Expansion
CSS now does what Floating UI, GSAP ScrollTrigger, Framer Motion, and react-select used to require JavaScript for. Here is exactly how much that saves, why these libraries were painful beyond their si...

Claude so stronk even OpenAI is pushing it
A screenshot of selected text from an OpenAI promotional email that reads:

Connect Codex to tools like Slack, GitHub, Linear, Google Drive, and more—including a plugin for Claude Code.

And yeah, almost a decade later, I'm still dealing with said dirt. SideEffects, man: not even once

Horia Dragomir @hdragomir.com · 20/03/2026
UpdateWithSideEffects I'm working on upgrading an older repo from an even older version of ReasonML The amount of buggy code caused by untangling reducer calls with side effects is through the roof I remember when the team begrudgingly added in the escape hatch, many moons ago, how dirty we felt

Since HTML, CSS and JS are so fault tolerant and backwards compatible, does that rub off on frontend people? Do we feel more accommodating? More empathetic?

It's been over a decade since my team launched messenger.com - I made some great friends on that team. Today I noticed the sunset banner and felt incredible nostalgia and longing. I'll be using the heck out of this little webapp that could until it goes
Messenger.com won't be available after April 14, 2026 but you can continue your conversations on the mobile app and on Facebook.

💯 There is a time and place for extreme go horse, though. Just gotta make a plan to deal with the tech debt We're on track to get into untenable territory "in six months"

With how easy it is to generate new code that works in isolation: Do we even need refactoring? Did refactoring ever really help the experience your product was providing? Like, I'm old enough that it did for me, but is that still true?

After manually(!) reviewing prolly some 50k lines of ai generated slop code this past year: Writing code that does what you want it to do is kinda easy these days, albeit at a junior to mid level Getting LLMs to help you properly refactor is quite a frontier. It's absolutely not solved

As a society, we need a solution to tech debt incurred from vibe coding to fix vibe coded code I'm manually poring over some insane shit rn. inb4: "you just need to add better guardrails and write more CLAUDE.md docs" I prefer to fight fire with water

A few days ago, I started focusing on photography again. I dusted off my very old camera (Sony a6000) and took it out for a spin Found this cheeky #hummingbird
A hummingbird photographer from behind, perched on a long narrow leaf with a classic downtown office building in the background. The low sun is barely illuminating the left half of the bird as it appears to look over its shoulder back at the camera

Some pages have event listeners on the capture phase that prevent the event from reaching your extension input that lives inside a shadow dom. Wild stuff

Horia Dragomir @hdragomir.com · 19/10/2025
I maintain an extension. It's so annoying sometimes Wait until the page that you're on starts capturing *some* of your keystrokes
