... does make you rather look stupid than bold... 🤷🏼‍♂️ Just saying...
The ai generated 'corncob' microtubule from the same paperKinesin version 3 (with funny additions to the microtubule lattice) from the same paper...
Kinesin version 2 (on corncob microtubules) from the same paperKinesin version 1 (from the same paper)

Free unasked advice: If you want to illustrate your paper but you cannot make polished illustrations yourself - it's ok to go with basic illustrations made in power point or to get a professional illustrator/artist to do these things for you. Using AI, however, to look bold and deliver this slop: /1

Behold the beauty of a human metaphase spindle 🫠 [RPE1 cell, confocal expansion microscopy, microtubules in green, chromosomes in blue, kinesin-12 in magenta) micrograph by Malte Lemmin, Nanoscience Master Student @zmbp-tuebingen.bsky.social @unituebingen.bsky.social

Working above the clouds today ...
View across a valley filled with fog. Some trees are visible as vague schemes. The sun shines through some dispersed clouds in an otherwise blue sky.

#ServiceNotification for the few that work with #KIF15 : please note that the polyclonal KIF15 AB #55407-1-AP by #proteintech creates lots of specific-looking background in IF (especially in interphase cells) that IS NOT KIF15! As tested in a KIF15 KO cell line rescued with a FLAG-tagged WT KIF15.
Panel of immunofluorescence images showing DAPI (upper right, purple), anti-KIF15 (mid-left, orange) and anti-FLAG (mid-right, cyan) of metaphase RPE1 KIF15 KO cells that have been rescued with a eGFP-FLAG-KIF15-WT construct. Panel on the lower left shows a stained interphase cell for comparison.

In case you feel bad about that one manuscript you started years ago, but never finished...

Our Collaborative Research Centre 1101 is preparing a special issue on the 'Molecular Coding of Specificity in Plant Processes' with @JXBot to be published in late autumn 2025. Do you have a research or review paper matching the topic?! Why are you still hesitating - submit now 😉
