Yesterday, I got a text from Harry Appleyard saying he had found an interesting fungi. Luckily, it was one of my few target fungi! So I went over in the evening to see it. 100+ fruiting bodies. Bog Beacon at Brickhills. #fungi

Finding a few Psathyrella sp including Common Stump Brittlestem, my favourite recent find was Conifer Tuft, seeing many Galerina sp, everywhere I go there are Scurfy Twiglet and I've gone all in and got a microscope. #mushroommonday #fungi

300th and 301st UK bird! After the last few months keeping me inside more than usual, I wanted to kick-start 2026 with something exciting. I forced myself out to twitch some lifers yesterday. Red-necked Grebe in Beds and Tundra Bean Goose in Herts.

Fluted bird's nest fungus - a fungi i've never seen before. A genus i've been hoping to find and thought it might be too late in the season. Some of the "eggs" have been flung out due to all the rain we've had recently. Such a weird looking thing. #fungi

Cley to Blakeney Point walk in Norfolk was wonderful for birds. Highlight was finding a Grey Phalarope feeding (phone vid frames) and 1w Caspian Gull (digiscoped through bins). Also, 15 Snow Buntings, Black-throated Diver, GND, Woodcock and a clear passage of Little Gulls and Kittiwakes

Being next to @hobhole.bsky.social when he found the Siberian Thrush was the best birding moment I've ever had. We dismissed the 1w Bluethroat in the same bush whilst trying to get our whole group on the bird. Only on Shetland! #Shetland #birding #siberianthrush

Leach's Storm Petrel, my most wanted bird in the UK! Got to see a few today through the Wirral. Saw the wind forces last last week and took the day off work. An extremely friendly and helpful bunch of birders in that area!
