Just came across vercel.com/marketplace/.... It's super interesting that there's even an official integration! It seems I have a lot of reading and homework to do. I wonder if I can deploy Nuxt the usual way via Vercel, but actually run edge functions on Supabase?!? 🤯

First, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, Daniel! I'm experienced with Nuxt, so that's fine - what I currently can't see through is if and how I can build a single app, and serve as a webapp, as well as mobile apps. Which router should I use? Ionic? Capacitor? Nuxt?

@danielroe.dev I need a public project website; session user webapp & mobile apps. Stack of choice: nuxt+ionic+supabase+tailwind Question: One nuxt app? Multiple nuxt apps? Is the nuxt app deployable to Supabase (Edge functions)? I'm confused how to combine (or split) and bundle all of this. #ama 🫰

👇 TIL you can download "Apache Iceberg--The Definitive Guide" from O'Reilly for free. Based on reading the first chapter of it before losing my (paper) copy on an aircraft last year, I can recommend it 🤓.

By moving the state to an external datastore the stateful streams app (from a deployment point of view) effectively becomes stateless - which greatly improves elasticity, reduces rebalancing downtimes & failure recovery. #java #kafka #kafkastreams #apachecassandra #scylladb #streamprocessing #data

The processing downtime is significantly reduced while also improving elasticity and resilience. As a result, your applications enable interruption-free CI/CD and can be auto-scaled. Please note that this recommendation only applies to stateless streams applications!

Hartmut Armbruster @hartmutarmbruster.bsky.social · 03/09/2023

By configuring your Kafka Streams app with internal.leave.group.on.close=true, a graceful shutdown immediately triggers a rebalancing process and tasks are re-assigned to other active members within the group.

100

Hartmut Armbruster @hartmutarmbruster.bsky.social · 03/09/2023

Fortunately, there’s a simple yet efficient solution to address this problem. As a bonus, we will look under the hood of Kafka Consumer Groups, the Group Coordinator & Rebalance Protocol, and measure, analyse and evaluate a simulation of a group member (replica) re-creation running on Kubernetes.

100

Hartmut Armbruster @hartmutarmbruster.bsky.social · 03/09/2023

With the default configuration, a stateless Streams app pauses processing for >45s when one app instance (group member) is removed or restarted. Such a long' rebalance downtime' is often unacceptable for real-time data streaming workloads with a low e2e latency as an NFR (non-functional requirement)

In this post, we’ll learn how Kafka Streams Consumers behave differently from regular Kafka Consumers, the consequences for the application, as well as steps to minimise downtimes in event processing when consumer group members change. thriving.dev/blog/reduce-...
