Because we've eliminated mink and that was the key factor in Norfolk we're really at the 'does this legislation focused on individual specimens over wider ecosystems really still make sense' stage.

I'm in very much the other end of the game - our site is so well populated that displacement doesn't work and it becomes a gruelling nightmare. I think we had 5 burrows in 200m dug into banks stripped of vegetation, 3 of them in the space of a week whilst the area was being tracked over.

Finally finished a project I've been working on for multiple years which has had just about every regulatory, weather and other possible nightmare occur. Looking forward to some nice easy groundworks and infrastructure over winter that doesn't involve anywhere a water vole might live.

If you think calling someone a 'Terf' is the same category as 'raghead' you've lost any sense of reality.

Why do they hate local governance so much. The SoS for Transport has zero business thinking about side streets in Birmingham beyond the national design standards.

This is a more contraversial part of it and why some people do not like this definition.

It is antisemitic by the IHRA definition as it gives 'Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.' As an example of antisemitism.

Given Nasa used a skycrane to land a car sized rover on Mars 14 years ago, this isn't a technical feat. Expensive sure, but it doesn't show any particular engineering prowess in Tesla.

Fan cars with huge ground effect downforce have also been around longer than I have been alive.

Harry @harry-is-human.bsky.social · 15h
Its very close to the ground so you can generate a lot of downforce with a fan - like a reverse hovercraft. The rest is just using compressed gas boosters to flip it round and land it. It looks cool but remember NASA landed a 900kg robot on Mars using a sky crane 14 years ago - so not new.

Many years ago, i had a serious mental health crisis and was hospitalised for it. The care was actually really good and that week on a womens ward did in fact save my life. Had i been treated as the nhs now says i should be, i would have in fact, only been pushed deeper into my suicidal crisis

The NHS is already one of the biggest perpetrators of anti-trans violence in the UK. This new guidance, which refers to trans people using slurs, demands that we be segregated and abused. I’ve said it before: senior NHS managers must be sacked and punished for what they’ve done to us.

Really excited to hear BBC Radio 4 interview some guy from the Committee for Academic Freedom talking about their "review" of Jason Arday's appointment at Cambridge. /s The Committee is a bunch of anti-woke, anti-EDI numpties and the review panel includes Steven Pinker and Robert Tombs.

Data centres in UK typically closed loop because they can't reliably abstract for cooling water. That said their power demands are still absurd - one new proposal would be fully 3% of UK electricity consumption.

Eritrea is one of the most repressive countries in the world and almost all Eritrean asylum seekers succeed in their claims - so if enacted, this would seem to “punish” the regime by penalising its opponents 🤷‍♂️

The equivalent in England is Section 5 Public Order Act. The police once charged me with this for swearing at someone. Said someone had just violently assaulted me. Case did not make it to trial but is a demonstration of how much excessive power it gives the police.

'And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full' People who only get their bible out outside a refugee hotel hate this.

You can really really piss off your average Christian Nationalist by reading the bible at them. One woman pretended* to have a seizure when I quoted Matthew 6:5 to her. (*People actually having a seizure don't very carefully make sure their head doesn't hit the floor)

As some of us (ahem) have been saying for awhile now - the trial-by-judge reforms would have only captured a slither of cases once the backlog was cleared. The real power shift was never Jury > Judge. The real move was always Jury > Magistrates.

Don't get me wrong, globally we use far too much input - fertiliser, pesticide, antibiotics - in our farming. This has many bad effects. But you need to work hard to persuade me hand pulling or burning weeds is worth it over, say, very selective pesticide application.

Apart from the fact this is BS at a scientific level, using organic farming as a makework programme is pretty dismal. The extra labour in organic farming is things like weed pulling. Exactly the sort of grinding repetitive work we want to get rid of!
