The French It Follows

This rocked. Style oozing from frame to frame with the whole cast acting their ass off. I’ve never seen the ethos of this period captured with such precision. Incredible stuff.

In our current timeline, pupkin would now go into politics

Everything rolls downhill. What happens in Main Street eventually finds its way in the hearts of suburbia. Can we blame ourselves for wanting more? What does wanting more actually cost? This was such a thrilling, heart-wrenching film and I cannot wait to see it again. I know next time I’ll have more thoughts, but wow!

My wife told me the spider was her sexual awakening and it all makes sense now

Christopher Walken was having the absolute best time and he deserves that

Ms. 45 can do no wrong

There’s nothing new I can say that others haven’t said better, but wow. This whole film was incredibly striking from the content, to the cinematography, and the performances. Everything is operating on another level and I’m just speechless.

There is more structure here than Cronenberg’s first film, but it is still lacking in narrative and an ability to satisfactorily communicate the themes. I’m eager to see how his work develops more through his career.

Slightly clunky, but it really soars with the set design and cinematography. The final 30 minutes really come together and give Damien Chazelle the blueprint for La La Land years later.

Nasty and fun! I appreciate the linear focus with a clear goal and new mechanics/weapons as it evolved…. It’s almost like a video game, who woulda thunk it!?

The scale of the movie really hit in 70mm IMAX. I hope Nolan doesn’t feel obligated to shoot 100% of future movies in the format, but I really enjoyed this final theater screening with the full intended experience.

Feels like AI slop. Crazy stuff.

Honestly impressive how boring this is. Also, I hate that fuck ass hat

Really love the general shape of what’s going on here, but I’m not a big fan of the actuals details .

Quite surprised by how much I rocked with this! I was expecting something closer to The Strangers which really didn’t do anything for me. But, I felt the characters were engaging, the tension well measured, and we had a bomb final girl who actually was smart. Unnerving and disturbing and then it became a Home Alone/ John Wick romp. So fun.

Lean, aesthetic little tone pieces like this are just another reason why horror is such a great genre. Fun!

Felt better than the later Connery entries but it’s been a little bit. The set pieces were still fun and engaging, but the limits of the franchise so far are the strange relationship with women and now race.

A healthy movie industry has parody movies, but I just wish this was better

This movie shows Hayden Christensen always struggled with line delivery

I feel like this crunchy, tactical, comfy thriller was made just for me.  For a work that feels influenced by so many pillars of cinema, it still feels one-of-one. I need to watch again.

I’ve always loved this movie, but this rewatch ties it all together even more. De Niro is untouchable.

I’m a sucker for good folklore spooky tales and this doesn’t disappoint. More people need to check this out!

I want an HBO prestige series set in the post Dino universe with all the government intrigue, 80s paranoia, and two Anne Hathaways

Was the drill circumcised??

Wow first Marvel movie I’ve genuinely enjoyed in a long time. It actually looked and felt like a film… what year is it??

Can’t believe I waited this long to finally see this film. I was curious how it would still feel like a Scorsese movie, but the opening moments quickly established whose film this is. Beautiful movie with charm and grit.

My wife really is Alan coded

I bet this is how the average QAnon guy feels on an average Tuesday

Now I’m nostalgic for my restaurant friends days and the friends I made when life was carefree and vast

I said hell yeah many times to my cat while watching so fantastic movie

This felt like twice-reheated Cronenberg nachos. Flat performances with nothing distinct to say while also lacking anything visually interesting. Just boring.

“How bout them Bears?” “Fuck the Bears” Great opportunity to see this film for the first time with its 4K restoration premiere followed by a Q&A with the director. A perfect example of how budgetary restrictions can lead to a film that captures true horror with a cold distance that feels tangible.

Says a lot about your body of work if your most forgettable movie is just a normal movie

Admittedly I struggled to hold onto the narrative, but I still enjoyed the overall presentation of the film from the b&w cinematography and the dreamlike editing.

Pretty nutty

It’s amazing how many Scorsese hallmarks are established here in his first feature film. A little rough around the edges, but even today it feels kinetic and relevant.

I think the main fun of this movie is diminished nowadays, but back in a packed theater after being quarantined it hit like my first Mountain Dew in fifth grade. Now it’s just fun with most of the emotional weight being attached to the work of the Sam Rami trilogy and seeing Toby and gang return.

We love a movie that shares both my passion for gummy candies and the slasher genre

Gets a little sloppy by the end but the ensemble is still incredibly charming. I wish there was less action and more fun character beats, but still fun!
