I’m choosing to dwell upon the positives from LFC’s start to the season under a new manager, implementing a significantly different style. Critiquing a star player who’s not performing as we’d hoped is fine, but it’s quickly & predictably morphed into more than that online.

Wirtz is toiling at the moment. Can’t question his work rate, but he looks surprisingly devoid of confidence & assuredness on the ball. On the other end of the scale, Jacquet has started his LFC career tremendously.

No real surprises so far nor a need for impulsive agenda spinning negativity. The last three times I’ve seen LFC sides go to Bournemouth we’ve had to toil physically & it’s our quality that’s seen an over the line.

I don’t think it’s that big a trade off in this game, plus I expect there to be more space & time than we see in the PL. My question around development is serious though. Even if he’s always better on the left, I find it weird we just expect players to be what they will be this young.

The decision is in line with our club policy & his performance last season was a real concern. This move is quite Salah like imo, he’s spoken out publicly in an effort to influence the situation, but he doesn’t quite have the record to back it up

Feel for Iraola. You’d have hoped given the shift in approach & the emphasis on intensity, that he’d have been given a deep squad to adapt to such demands. Fans need to get behind him & not let the frustration of last yr spill out. The glaring gaps in the squad won’t help that.

Yeah, it’s worth saying we did similarly under Klopp in 17/18 to great if chaotic effect. We did however, have a generational front three, so far the current options are nowhere near as good or just missing. A number 6 & a RB & we’d look far more balanced imo. Need a RW too

Positives from the half were Wirtz growing into it, Munoz hard working & lively, Jacquet calm & composed. Ali’s still elite. Negatives? Frimpong frequently looks out of his depth & ill suited, Isak, utterly anonymous. A side that needs pace & variety in attack & the missing profile in MF.

Plenty to be positive about if agree. The negativity is actively incentivised across the media & on the other place, but I do think we should expect better from the club recruitment wise ahead of a new manager’s first season. I don’t think that’s unfair to say.

Grav dropped for Mac, Munoz in from the start over Rio . Neither of the guys coming in are close to full fitness so it’ll be interesting to see how long they last. Mac is a more responsible partner in the pivot for Dom, also likelier to foul folks if he gets a press wrong.

Disregard the injury Minteh has likely been on the scout’s lists for years. The manner of the potential signing, so late in the window, seems to signal a lack of planning from LFC this summer but also the paucity of available targets that fit the bill. Get BB done as well & a MF for good measure

For what it’s worth, I think LFC have the bodies in midfield to handle the minutes. My concerns? No first team defence first midfielder, with the physical capacity Iraola requires. We don’t know how these players will react to the return to more high intensity running.

I think Jones has been repeatedly underrated during his time at LFC. A flair 10 who moulded himself into a pressing & retention focussed player as Klopp asked him to. Ultimately injuries prevented him from establishing a firmer grip on a first team place.

I expect to see LFC improve next season as a collective unit & as a result defend better. The return of coordinated pressing once it’s drilled will help a tonne, as will the new attackers should they arrive. I’m staggered we’ve heard nothing about reinforcing MF or defence
