Writing tip: Give your protagonist a pet cat. In the final pages, shift to the cat's point of view. Follow the cat outside, through moonlit woods, to a pasture where cows kneel in worship around a glowing spacecraft. As the cat trots up its gangway, we glimpse in the windows an all-cat crew.

We adopted Mr. Reginald Barclay about six weeks ago. He was accepted as a full fledged member of the crew following a cursory examination and decontamination from Chief Security Officer Boo. Reg is super soft, fluffy and makes weird noises. He’s a good cat. He’s been assigned to engineering.
