Coalitie denkt aan bezuinigen op onderwijs als sociale zekerheid niets oplevert
Zo wordt de druk op D66-minister Vijlbrief opgevoerd om tot bezuinigingen in de sociale zekerheid te komen.

Claude Sonnet 5 (at medium effort) seems to very often just start a new sentence randomly while it was still working on another one. Reads like a 5yo just rambling through a story...

Kennelijk ook door Wilco Botermans! Mooie woordspeling op de naam natuurlijk, maar het hart van deze fysicus die ook van alternatieve muziek houdt, gaat hier toch wel van kloppen hoor!

German federal states elect at separate dates. Why is this? It seems to me that results in one state strongly influence voting behavior in the next. In other countries (sure, different democratic systems, I know) these are simultaneous for (nationally) obvious reasons.

A student today told me that I reminded her of Hank Green. I had no idea who that was (he said from under his stone), but after looking him up on the tubez, I'll gladly take that as a compliment.

Normally, I'd be interested in joining the Recognition & Rewards Festival to discuss ways forward for the scientific community and its reward structures. One very rude and genuinely unfriendly speaker on the program is enough for me to not join. Too bad, the rest of the lineup looks pretty great!

OK, Jesse Minter seems to be doing a decent job. Still, the whole 16 years that I have been following the Baltimore Ravens, Harbough was head coach, and that alone is unique enough to still kind of miss the face along the sideline.

Those AI bosses coming with "warnings", is much more likely to be some commercially or politically smart move to become more powerful and/or richer, than that it actually means that we are now crossing some point of no return towards destruction.

That sounds super interesting. At LUMC we are also soon starting an ABM study in health. We will focus on behavior, environment and socioeconomic factors to understand resilience to adverse conditions, probably mostly focused on lifestyle related (cardiometabolic) disease.

Devil's advocate here. When changing the learning means or methods, I assume the learning goals have also changed. Constructive alignment and all. The scores shown here measure "the tried and tested" methods/goals. Perhaps other measures have increased? Can't reach arbitrarily many goals.

I never really thought of mazes as puzzles. The book The Puzzler, by AJ Jacobs made me reconsider my stance. I'm still not sure about them as puzzles, but some really are pieces of art! These are by David Millar (aka The Griddle) and Michelle Boggess-Nunley. Go look them up!
A recent maze by Dave Millar, aka The Griddle, with 10 segments connected by openings in the walls and tunnels in the middle. More at thegriddle.netA recent maze by Michelle Boggess-Nunley, with a route going over and under walls in an almost Escher-like cityscape. More at
