There is also fear about being percieved as biased. When you are a local news station you *do* need to report what officials are doing and saying, and work with people on both sides, and if they decide they don’t like you and what you say, they won’t talk to you, and make it so you can’t do your job

I think this definitely plays a role. I also think a lot of them believe that if you show two sides next to each other in a neutral, honest, and informative way, that the public will be able to discern on their own which one is bunk. This is not the case.

I work in local news, which is very different from national news, but any issue that has a left/right divide has a similar kind of pattern that’s painful to watch. I had too much to say for a single post so I did it as a screenshot.

I've noticed that the journos that have progressive views on gender personally, have strong integrity, but value a false philosophy of journalistic
"neutrality" that requires getting both sides everywhere, no matter what, whereas journos that are conservative have less integrity, are more willing to portray only one slanted view they like. Why is it like this... idk, but conservative journos feel more comfortable doing this, while others act like they have to be extremely cautious.

Many of the behaviors of homeschoolers that are *noticed* are just behaviors of neurodivergent people. You often won’t know that someone is HS’d if they’re neurotypical, they will seem normal and not announce it. Often people will totally reinterpret their view of me when they learn this about me
