I'd believe that! I'd even believe that Loma Vista didn't view her as a priority (which sucks) and thus the album timeline was stretched out. that's not what the post said - it specifically said "mixed and mastered", then the post was worded in a way to imply the album has been done for over a year.

This is NOT a callout/cancellation/etc, and I don't want any blogs reporting on this. I just don't like seeing this lack of transparency. Ultimately, I want to give her the benefit of the doubt here and I imagine she's getting screwed over in other ways, as all artists famously are on major labels.

given vinyl and even CD lead times I doubt any physical media would be ready in time for September anyway, even on a major, though artists do frequently release digital-first. I hold no animosity toward De Souza and I wish the label would give her her masters to avoid all this

the wording is really sneaky - maybe the painting's been done for a year, but the album hasn't been it looks less like they wouldn’t release the album - she never says it was shelved! - than that the rollout didn't match the date she wanted, and that's the first reason for leaving

I was checking Dave Fridmann’s page bc it usually spoils who’s working on an album, and noticed an Indigo de Souza record was mastered back in July assuming this is the same album, that actually contradicts what she implies in the GoFundMe when she's asking for $90,000
