Screenshot of a poetry publication featuring Hannah Levy’s poem “Origin Story,” published by Karan Kapoor and Only Poems Daily on August 27, 2026. The poem begins, “My mother was a rabbit under trembling sky. My father was the sky,” and explores childhood, fear, love, and transformation through storm imagery. A purple hand-drawn squiggle appears beneath the poem.

A #poem I wrote about God (and Iceland) was recently published in @wildroofjournal.bsky.social! Here is the full poem. I share more about my process for writing it, including screenshots of my early drafts from my Notes app, in this Substack post: hannaheve.substack.com/p/god-at-geysir #poetry
A poem by Hannah Levy titled "God at Geysir"

Not as singular
or eternal
but as embodied,
as in my body.
God as grasping,
as holding. God
as opening, swollen
and saturated. God
as pulse, as bloodcurrent
and throatsong. God
as glacial. God as every
ending, a red moon rising.
God as lover, whole
hand reaching, push-
pulling inside out.
A death I always
prayed for. God
as heat, me a vessel.
Hoofbeat and breath.
At Geysir, in Iceland,
God paints blue
patience. Gathers
strangeness in the mouth.
This whole thing
is about to explode
and God is watching.
At astronomical dark
God is a drunk
and lustful sky—
here God offers
me the future
with open palms.
And if I say God
is two bodies, will God
still enter me?
At nightfall, I watch
a sheep with eyes
down low. He tells
me to live
in the light.

finding magic in the mundane
A pedestrian crossing sign is mounted above a smaller sign with a downward-pointing arrow, both bright yellow. A lush cone-shaped vine covered in small yellow flowers has grown up and around the pole, creating a whimsical, tree-like appearance. The scene is set on a quiet residential sidewalk with small front yards, flowering plants, and houses under a dramatic, cloudy evening sky.

excerpt from an essay in @thenation.com by Kaveh Akbar www.thenation.com/article/acti...
An excerpt from an essay in The Nation by Kaveh Akbar that reads "In these harrowing days of calculated overwhelm, our job is to resist consent manufacturing and calls to craven acquiescence. To think critically about language, hold media coverage accountable. To protest. To ask our families, our colleagues, our Republican neighbors to oppose further US involvement. The past is whatever we cannot change. This isn’t that. There is still time to move us away from a future that insists upon annihilating humanity to accommodate the annihilation of humans."

Various markers, a U.S. map, and a butterfly identification guide are also on the table.

Carl Jung: "If the path before you is clear, you're probably on someone else's."
A small forest stream flows through a shaded woodland area, bordered by ferns, moss, and tree roots. A large, twisted tree root arches over the stream, forming a natural bridge. Sunlight filters through the trees, casting dappled light on the forest floor. The scene is lush and tranquil, with rich textures from the earth, foliage, and bark.

A screenshot with white text on a black background that reads:
"Look, there is being aware about what is going on in the world and there is volunteering your time to make a change (even if it’s just making *a phone call* or a *donation*), and then there is just giving up your energy and your brain power when it could be dedicated to your creative practice or acts of service or being present for people in your life. It’s your power. Use it wisely. You deserve the chance to achieve all kinds of success.

Do not give them your power. It’s yours. You need it. You keep it. Then use it."

"Perhaps we're always stuck in a state of longing. That we are united in this. Our only country, these united states of longing for whatever it is we don't have." — excerpt from @samsax.bsky.social's book "Yr Dead"
Excerpt from the book Yr Dead by Sam Sax that reads "Belonging, like any other emotion, is an unreachable and fickle state of mind. Mirage and horizon-it's gone once you're inside it. Based on a thousand micro-factors that float across one's field of vision only to disappear as you approach. What changes with the streetlights. Perhaps we're always stuck in a state of longing. That we are united in this. Our only country, these united states of longing for whatever it is we don't have."

envy as an erotic prophecy, by @softmoonrose.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/softmoon...
Black screenshot with white text that reads: "Envy is the moment your psyche sees something that belongs to you and simultaneously registers that you're not living it. It carries the wound of proximity. Unlike longing, which can be abstract or romanticized, envy is sharp because it names what's possible but absent. That tension, between inner ownership and outer disconnection, is what gives envy its specific psychic voltage. It's the friction between fate and delay, between who you are and who you've allowed yourself to become."

A towering redwood tree with a deeply textured and partially hollowed-out trunk stands in the foreground, surrounded by a dense forest of other tall redwoods. The perspective is from below, looking up towards the sky, emphasizing the tree’s immense height. Moss and greenery cover parts of the trunk, and diffused light filters through the canopy, creating a serene and majestic atmosphere.A person in a pink jacket and white pants walks along a well-trodden forest path, surrounded by towering redwoods. The wooden railings lining the path are covered in moss, adding to the lush, ancient feel of the scene. #tarot bibliomancy: WS Merwin's Odysseys + the 6 of Swords
A photograph features an open book displaying the poem "Odysseus" by WS Merwin, dedicated to George Kirstein. The poem reflects on themes of journeying, repetition, betrayal, and the blurred distinction between home and departure. Resting on the right-hand page of the book is a tarot card: the Six of Swords from the Rider-Waite deck. The card depicts a cloaked figure and a child sitting in a boat, being ferried across water by a standing man with a pole. The imagery suggests themes of transition, movement, and emotional passage. The combination of the poem and tarot card evokes ideas of exile, return, and the complexities of longing for home.
