I am now taking submissions of original 2026 short fiction projects — magazines, anthologies, single-author collections — for consideration in The Best Weird Fiction of the Year, Vol. 3. (Publishing Sept. 2027). Vol. 1 is a World fantasy Award Finalist.

I am seeking material first published this year, in 2026. To be clear, only weird fiction FIRST published in 2026 is eligible for inclusion in this volume. I will accept translated work as long as the first English-language publication was 2026.

does not break her gaze, though he begins to feel as though his eyes are burning, sizzling, melting.
"A saddle of horse leather." She adjusts herself on her saddle, and pulls the reins of her
stallion. "Baptize it in the stream that flows from under the mountain the one that connects this forest with your world. Do so on the very last night of this moon. No sooner, no later."
Gilles opens his mouth to question, but the woman rears her chestnut up and gallops
away. In the clearing, his horse-bride has already gone. Gilles inspects the moon.
He has three nights.”

hey #HorrorWritersChat, I’m Han! I write primarily folk horror and dark SFF, almost always either queer or feminist. the “monsters” that frighten me the most are probably demons from the Christian mythos and skinwalkers from Navajo culture. *shudder*
