A new zine about the old days.
Small zine on graph paper. The title is A Well Armed Childhood with the subtitle I Read A Lot Of Fantasy. All the lettering and art is hand drawn in simple black ink. The image is of a sword with a curved guard and some etching on the blade. This was a very common plastic sword design in the 90s. Once you hit a few things with them, the would split along the seam on both sides and have to be taped back together with duct tape. Lettering and art hand drawn in black ink on graph paper. The art is a life size drawing of a butter spreader knife from a set of silver flatware. Text: "You can't sharpen a silver plated butter spreader on a brick." Below: "Mom hated when I took these." It's true, too. I always lost them in the yard trying to use them as boot knives. Lettering and art hand drawn in black ink on graph paper. Text: "Drinking straw + tape wrapped pin blow gun" and "Seldom worked but stung like hell when it did." The art is of those two exact things. I'm pretty sure I mostly just tried to get the darts to stick in my wall or some cardboard. Lettering and art hand drawn in black ink on graph paper. Text reads: "Daggers: a pirate requirement," "Slats from a semi-discarded shutter," and "Trimmed with a hand saw." Art shows a very blocky wooden dagger with a squared off guard, attached with three nails (one showing the bent over end, two just showing the head). My folks weren't happy that I stole all the slats from that shutter.

New patch on my overalls.
A patch with a cartoonish frog reading a book. The frog is saying "READ IT" and beneath that are the words Girl Scouts. It has a yellow border. The patch is sewed to dark blue denim overalls. You can see the wearer's pale skin and red chest hair. It's very cute.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. It's a sin and a shame that Taye Diggs was one of the only actors in Chicago that didn't get nakedish.

Okay, but when did 90s plastic chokers become a trans girl specific accessory?
Sabrina the teenage witch wearing a see through top with a white tank top under it, long blonde hair, and a plastic choker. She's in front of a classroom chalkboard. The 90s!

I honestly don't know why people are acting like this admin or the folks who voted for them care if their actions are legal or make sense. They just change or ignore rules. Laws only have power as long as those with the power agree to abide by them. Quit acting affronted and start fighting back.

Beer and barley soup. Truly the most peasanty of the soups.
Soup! With beef, barley, green beans, carrots, and a spoon. And lots of garlic, but you can't see that here.

Fire and ice, baby. Strange times in a strange state.
Snow lingers on the ground in small drifts around the edge of a yard and along a wooden fence. A metal fire ring in the middle of the yard holds a sprightly wood fire. The sky is blue, the trees are green. An unusual Florida winter!

For the foreseeable future, I don't want to hear any cis het white guys talking politics. Even if we 100% agree. I don't want to hear how they now understand how hard it is for everyone (else). I don't want to hear their solutions to (my) problems. If you want to help, give money or time.

Under Hill! Draw Your Adventurer #4.
The cover of a small zine on graph paper titled Under Hill. It's hand drawn in black ink. A ragged hill goes toward the right top corner. Halfway up, a cave goes into the hill. Several trees can be seen on the hill going up. A mountain in the background shows a forest (stamped in green ink). In the cave you can take the downward path and deal with biting plants or the upward path. There's a snail and crystals on the ceiling. A small zine on graph paper. In a cave you can see biting plants, rope platforms going up the wall like a climbing toy for cats, and a number of small birds dancing among leafy plants. On the side of a mountain are an owl creature, a water tower, and a three story shack with what appears to be a heated outhouse on top. A small zine on graph paper. Golden mountains are stamped in the background. On the mountain is a tent and campfire. In the cave are small bugs riding on rolly pollies while another bug cheers them on. Pumpkins grow along the bottom. Snailor Moon glitters on a crescent shaped rock. A small zine on graph paper. Inside a cave are a sleeping bear, tucked into a cozy, round space near the ceiling. Two doors in the wall of the cave have built in ladders leading up to the them. Near the floor, a fish restaurant on a pier has several fishing lines dangling below it, going into a hole in the paper/cave floor. A sign shows the Way Out. On the surface, a small pool of water holds several large jellyfish.

Too on the nose?
A panel from Robolink comic by Carl Pfeufer (1966). A man in a fedora and trench coat watches a series of white guys in orange jumpsuits with very 50s haircuts falling out of a metal tube into a hole in the floor. The fedora guy thinks, "Good grief! Workers used up by the dozens... exposed to nuclear rays... to be dumped away callously! Who runs this heartless kind of world today???" Who indeed, fedora guy?

Cold weather is the best if you have cats and like adorable things.
A round, black and white cat and a roundish orange tabby rest on a bed with mushroom sheets and a purple bedspread. The tuxedo cat rests his paw on the sleeping ginger's back and looks at the camera. My love for these cats is endless, like time itself.

Best thing about using a cpap (aside from being able to breathe at night): sleeping with your head fully under the blanket in winter.
This is what it looks like under my top blanket at night. Like a blue and white flannel cave. It's so cozy, y'all.

What's the first book you're reading this year? I'm starting with Different Kinds of Fruit by Kyle Lukoff. (As my granny would say, "he's a peach!")
The cover of Different Kinds of Fruit by Kyle Lukoff. Two middle school aged kids sit on a floor in what is probably a classroom or bedroom. Behind them are posters of fruit, the Seattle Aquarium, and the non-binary pride flag. Queer kids are awesome!

Tried out my new clothes yesterday. I forgot how great a baggy pair of overalls can be. At one point I was carrying a jar of jelly, three lighters, a pocket knife, a pair of work gloves, a jar of medical mj, a hunter green hanky, and possibly two or three small animals. 2025: living la vida baggy.
A short, fat redheaded man wearing baggy blue denim overalls and a purple plaid flannel shirt bends over a bonfire, probably to do something dumb like adjust a log by hand. He's very cute.

May your child soup be delicious in 2025.

An illustration from the children's book Johnny Crow's Garden (L. Leslie Brooke). A whale tells a long tail while sitting next to other animals, including a lion, a hippo, a dog, an owl, and - of course - a crow. The lion is yawning - you know how whales do go on.

A dirty zine from the footlocker! S.T.H. (Straight To Hell) #66. Started in 1972, this one's from 2007. "True" gay sex stories sent in by readers with titles like "Whore Sez Massive Prong Is Pure Heaven" and "Bodybuilder Recruited Into Secret Sex Club." Plus dirty photos! Which I'm not posting here!
A zine titled STH (Straight to Hell): The Manhatten Review of Unnatural Acts. A fit young man in a Mickey Mouse shirt and sneakers sits on a chair with his knees spread. His crotch is covered with a circle bearing the subtitle. What a tease! The credits page of Straight To Hell #66. Billy Miller is the editor, Scott Hug is the designer. In the middle of the page is a small pic of a naked man in chains with his ass up. A badge in the upper left proclaims "Approved by the Cocksman Union." I bet their holiday banquet is amazing! The back cover of a zine. A pic of two men in jackets - one is on his knees in front of the other, the other holds the back of the kneeling man's head. Cocksuckers in their natural environment. There's also a short piece of poetry by Lord Alfred Douglas.

And afterward, in radiant garments dressed,
With sound of flutes and laughing of glad lips,
A pomp of all the passions passed along,
All the night through; till the white phantom ships
Of dawn sailed in. Whereat I said this song,
'Of all sweet passions Shame is loveliest.'

If @dieworkwear.bsky.social could see through time.
Three panels from an old comic. A man in a fortune teller style turban tells a man in a tacky, striped green suit jacket, "I actually saw the future! I saw you! I couldn't be mistaken about that jacket you're wearing." Shady!

Cut an eraser stamp for the first time for this one. A fun thing to do while I have a bad cold and can't leave the couch.
A small zine on grid paper. The title is A Walk Into Town. The cover has a hill with a forest on top. A dragon's snout is popping out of the woods. The hill is riddled with caves, containing swords, bats, and treasure. A small demon/bug named Top Hat is visible through a hole in the paper. Hi. Top Hat!A paper plate containing a small zine and a hand cut eraser stamp. The zine cover has a cave, a dragon's snout poking out of some woods, and an orange and yellow stamped sun. You know what was great? 80s art deco revival.
A shot from the opening credits of the tv show Poirot. A stream train rides past an art deco city scape. A pink room with a neon accented giant painting of Billy Idol. A Patrick Nagel artwork of a woman with severe lips and eyes looking over her shoulder at you. She knows what you did and she doesn't approve, but she knows you want her to not approve. An 80s version of an art deco vanity table with a round mirror that resembles a stylized shell.

When you're quite fat, as I am, it's hard to find overalls that fit. So I finally got a pair of size 72s but they are as stiff as a very stiff thing indeed. How do y'all soften denim? Also, is it silly to get a pair of basic overalls tailored so they don't look like JNCOS?
