I really appreciate the support and guidance from my PhD advisor, Dr. Nick Navin, as well as the major contributions from our collaborators, Drs. Franziska Michor and Ollie McDonald. Check it out if you are interested in tumor heterogeneity and evolution!

Our data identified clonal origins in all tumors profiled, suggesting that they evolved from a single ancestral cell. We also found that punctuated copy number evolution is common across human cancers and that subclonal whole genome doubling further promotes tumor evolution.

Our data showed that increased copy number heterogeneity was associated with TP53 mutations and whole genome doubling. We also showed that higher copy number diversity was associated with increased spatial heterogeneity.

I am happy to share that my PhD work on a pan-cancer single-cell analysis of intratumoral copy number diversity and evolution is now out as a pre-proof in Cancer Discovery. In this paper, we profiled 62,646 aneuploid cells from 94 tumors across 7 major human cancer types using single-cell DNA-seq.

A pan-cancer single-cell analysis of intratumoral copy number diversity and evolution
Abstract. Aneuploidy is a hallmark of human tumors. While patient-level copy number alteration (CNA) differences have been investigated extensively in large cohorts, their intratumoral heterogeneity r...
