We clean up alright🍾❤️

A polaroid photo of me and my partner dressed up at a wedding. We're posing side by side in front of an array of flowers in a garden. My partner is wearing a black dress and I'm wearing a dark grey suit with a red tie.

@tolkoto.com @grubb.wtf @giantbomb.com flew all the way to Hanoi, Vietnam and still couldn't escape Mr. World-wide. What's he not telling us??

It's got brands, religion, and war. Quintessential.

You could probably use a flexible, paintable caulking between tiles as grout replacement, but this might cause issues with rot. Probably worth experimenting with a small patch and seeing how it goes through the seasons. Functional considerations aside this would be super cool to see though :)

Martin @halfbakedboat.shop · 27/03/2026

I imagine it would work alright, though places with high or highly variable humidity might be less suited. You'd want to leave a small gap between tiles for the wood to work, otherwise you might get pieces prying up in more humid times. This would be less of an issue if using plywood.

Project Hail Mary is a good movie. I'm really not much of a movie guy but it's probably my favourite in a long time, though I'll have to watch it again to be sure. Quite an achievement to make a rock spider so endearing, the humour is of a type that often doesn't work for me but it does here. 5*

Finally found some time to hit credits on Final Fantasy XVI. I do see where certain aspects of the criticism come from but I quite enjoyed it on the whole. Don't think I've played a more spectacular game, the characters are well realized, and I enjoyed the combat throughout. Very solid FF entry imo.

The whole time I was thinking to myself how silly this is and then the music hit and... Damn. I mean I'm not gonna get one, but that was a hell of a nostalgia hit.

Probably not as bothered as you think since they recently completed a rail link between Iran and China.

The newly uncovered land wouldn't really be very livable as it'd be largely barren and devoid of soil(like the Canadian arctic islands but even more so), and we'd be losing a whole lot of highly livable land in coastal regions so I'm going with huge net loss.

Felt kinda dirty but I just bought a two pack of knockoff Pentel p205s for like $3 at the dollarstore while looking for something else and they actually feel fairly decent... #pencilcrimes #sketching

Little bit of fun with a new micro 4/3rds camera #photography

A photo of a line of three identical white-framed windows in a salmon coloured stucco wall. There's a small pipe or conduit running from the top of the frame to about two thirds down to the right of the leftmost window, it is also salmon coloured. A bit of the ground is visible in front of the wall along the bottom.

I think sometimes it can be tough to see or have faith in the end result when you're in the thick of it but trust your process, you're an amazing artist.

Not sure I feel particularly refreshed if I'm being honest. Still just as disgusted, but in a different way. The one approach takes the populace and world at large for dumb, the other for cruel and uncaring. Making any lack of response even more damning in a way. It's all just horrible, isn't it?

Ain't no way they're letting that many brown people vote. They're getting the Puerto Rico treatment, I fear.

Happy New Year, all! Made some friends watch Master and Commander and Blade Runner for New Year's Eve. Not sure what influence this will have on the year ahead but I'm hoping it's good.

It doesn't really matter, I'm never gonna "do numbers" regardless, but I really wish this site would suggest hashtags and show their popularity as you type them, like cohost did. As someone not so engaged, I feel like I always miss the bigger ones.

To my knowledge it's operated as a sail ambassador for Nova Scotia and offers daysail charters and tours and stuff. But as a replica of the original, it does assume at least some of that aura imo.

And a photo of the cut, to prove that I did achieve at least some spiral. The filling was a Kahlua and cacao whipped cream with chopped hazelnuts.

Photo of the cake showing the exposed cut face. There is a visible if somewhat lopsided spiral of light brown cream filling surrounded by darker brown chocolate sponge, covered in a layer of ganache. All in all, this thing was quite rich.

I was in charge of bringing Christmas dinner dessert this year so tried my hand at a first Bûche de Noël (yule log). A bit clumsy, as is my tradition, but I was fairly happy with the result. Taste and texture were both quite good. #baking #holidaybaking #bakersofbsky

Photo of my yule log on a serving platter that was maybe slightly too small. It's covered in chocolate ganache with squiggly grooves created by a fork in it to mimic bark texture and decorated with sugared cranberries and rosemary sprigs. I covered the ends in ganache too rather than leaving the spiral exposed because it was a bit messy.

What horseshit is this? There's no evidence we're running out of good ideas, and why does it matter? Maybe we're running out of new problems to solve, so let's spend some time solving important ones that have been with us for centuries but have been cast aside because they lack a clear profit angle.

We love the Dwarf genre, don't we?

Picture of my Steam Year In Review spider graph that shows the genres I played the most. Action RPG and MMORPG are at the top, then Racing and Dwarf, followed by Metroidvania and Looter Shooter.

Not the most reflective of my gaming year as a whole, most of my play was non-steam before the last couple of months. I was so close to completing FFXVI too but then met a woman and yeah... I'll get back to it over the holidays😄

Summary of my Steam Replay 2025.

I played 35 games, 17 of them new, and earned 80 achievements over 155 play sessions. My top 5 most played were Final Fantasy XVI, Final Fantasy XIV, Enshrouded, Peak, and Kingdom Come Deliverance II.

Just me or was there a hint of offside on the build-up to both the second and third Miami goals? I'd like to see another, proper replay but ah well. GGs Whitecaps, a great season and hopefully another one next year.

Not that I've ever do more than a handful per year anyway but Twitch recap has made me aware that I haven't streamed even once this year. Still a bit of time to left establish a more regular habit for next year though.🤔 I don't expect much but it'd be nice to get a little community going #streaming

I'm sure it'll be fine but what if the Zelda movie had this vibe? Better worlds are possible.

When I lived in Vancouver nearly a decade ago Save on Foods sold a lumberjack sandwich that fit the criteria, I'd buy one and have lunch for several days. Doubt they still do, certainly not for as cheap a price, but could be worth a look.

I think many people forget about that tbh. I get the sense that it's mostly because they did the whole "we can't afford to spend like them, we're just little guys" routine for ages and then spent 400 million in one summer. That and certain people love to cheer for a fall after some years of success.

Yup, though I think one of them was technically Takaoka tipping it onto the bar from a cross. Wild, no doubt.

For anyone wondering, the Vancouver Whitecaps won a penalty shootout after playing extra time a man down and even two men down for the final few minutes after one of their players got injured and couldn't play on. LA hit the frame of the goal multiple times in extra time too.

I've watched soccer for 21 years now and that was legit one of the more dramatic ends to a match I've ever witnessed. And I've seen a lot over that time. Just wild.
