We had a Dane and got Lucy to be her friend. I once caught Lucy, tucked in behind Maisie, catching her poo out of the air. I almost tossed my cookies. This is Lucy saying "Let's play in this cool puddle" and Maisie saying "Danes don't do wet things."

This is an especially important message when the dog in question is a Great Dane. That gentle giant thing is not universally true. With Maisie & other dogs, your response on any given day could range from "let's play", to indifference, to "I'm going to eat your liver". 150 lbs of no joke.

I was trained by Maisie. She was absolutely the Gentle Giant with people while on walks (although not for those coming up our driveway - we were protected by Dane Security). With dogs, however, it was a crapshoot - indifferent, want to play, or mayhem, with 150 lbs on the end of the leash.
