I say this as someone who thinks there *are* people are too far gone and too evil to be allowed to live and should be executed. It's just not worth it.

The death penalty is about politics, not justice. There is no evidence of a deterrent effect (not even when expedite it). It's about appearing tough on crime and making executions seem merciful even when they're not. Scrap the whole thing. It's not worth the expense, the mess or the suffering.

What's telling is that "conservatives" don't care if a government works or not, as long as it hates the right people. Hungary is a hot mess but they loved Orban. Russia is a disaster but they love Putin. They support Fujimori's cesspool of corruption. There is no conservatism; only authoritarianism.

Like I’ve watched all her specials before and five minutes in I was snort-laughing. So it’s not me that’s the problem.

I watched a bit out of curiosity and it was remarkably unfunny. Like his entire schtick is now reduced to saying “vagina” and thinking this is somehow hilarious. Switched to Tomlinson, who is actually funny, as a palette cleanser.

Exposing Trump's scheme to illegally withhold aid to coerce Ukraine into lying to help Trump's reelection got the aid released. Important point. I don't know how some Dems talked themselves into thinking the best way to counter criminality is to let it slide, rather than investigate and expose it.
