It is a bad thing for criminals to hide behind VPNs. This law will only prevent law-abiding citizens from hiding behind VPNs. I'm sorry you don't see that. It's blitheringly obvious to me as well. I don't want criminals to be above the law, no. But this law will not hinder criminals only us.

the thing is, you can't legislate away access to illegal tools. The bad guys will ALWAYS find encryption. This law will only harm law-abiding citizens to no benefit to society. CSIS is high on their own supply on this question. Just like the NSA was back in the day for the Clipper chip.
