hacz @hacz.lol · 24/07/2026Part two will be going up today! I’m particularly excited about this one 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 21/07/2026Lately, I haven’t had any good ideas. Just regular, everyday ideas that don’t seem substantial enough to even record. I’m taking in what I read, and observing what’s around me, but I don’t know. My observations don’t catalyze new ideas. 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 20/07/2026I finished Lonesome Dove this morning. I feel as if the rest of my week has already been ruined, and I’m in the snake pit with Sean. 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 17/07/2026Here is the first publication of my 3 week newsletter reflecting on The Recognitions and its idea of forgeries. This book has become significant to me, and I want to share some of the ideas that stuck the most! #booksky #writing open.substack.com/pub/zachbuza...open.substack.comGenuine: A Summer SeriesWeek 1 of 3 030
hacz @hacz.lol · 14/07/2026This Friday, I’m going to start a short, three week newsletter series. It’ll reflect on the ideas of forgeries on the human scale. This is in lieu of completing The Recognitions. First newsletter will be this Friday! #booksky substack.com/@hacz/note/c...substack.comZ. R. (@hacz)I'm obsessive. When my attention is glinted, my interest piqued...I go all in. Somewhere in the first twenty pages of William Gaddis's The Recognitions I stopped being a person with other interests an... 040
hacz @hacz.lol · 09/07/2026They’ll probably lure people in with a free year of Gamepass + console for *ONLY* $49.99 a month on a two year agreement. You’ll either pay it off, or have the option to send it back for trade in value when the .5 console update happens. Rinse and repeat. 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 09/07/2026The pitch is that they won’t sell you the system directly. It’ll be bundled into a lease with Gamepass. Gamepass price will be like $30/50/75 a month for Gamepass access + tiers of the hardware. I think console gaming is going the way of cell phone contracts. Consoles were never a money maker anyway 100
hacz @hacz.lol · 08/07/2026Yep, sold off 90% of my OG collection to a friend (he was partial owner of an LGS at the time) just before moving to Los Angeles. I texted him to check in and see if he still has it. There was an ungraded Tabernacle for sale at Burbank Sports cards prob ~6 months ago. I regret selling mine lol 110
hacz @hacz.lol · 08/07/2026I sold my Tabernacle to a friend in 2021; lemme reach out and see if he can’t send an email. I believe he still has it. 110
hacz @hacz.lol · 07/07/2026I lost my save, so gonna restart as someone else. I love this game though. 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 06/07/2026Also started my first play through of Octopath Traveler 2, and damn. I knew Octopath had this cool HD-2D style, but it’s so good. 010
hacz @hacz.lol · 06/07/2026Checking in to remind future me, on this day in July 2026, I slept all the way through the night for a full, unbroken, 8.5 hours of sleep. Woke up with bed head and all. 010
hacz @hacz.lol · 04/07/2026In 8 chapters into Lonesome Dove and damn. The scenic writing is so good. I feel like I’m there at the campfire with Gus and Call. #booksky 010
hacz @hacz.lol · 01/07/2026Got his phd from redneck u after getting his undergrad from the skool of hard knocks 010
hacz @hacz.lol · 30/06/2026if it doesn't win the Pulitzer, I'm not sure it gets noticed. It was good, I read it in two days and couldn't put it down. Maybe my feelings will differ after some marination, but damn...I expected to like it more than I did. 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 30/06/2026Before starting Lonsome Dove some quick thoughts after completing Angel Down: it had a really promising structure building through it, but I don't think it earned it's ambiguous ending; overall it didn't land for me. Strip the single-sentence gimmick and I'm not sure it wins the Pulitzer. #booksky 110
hacz @hacz.lol · 30/06/2026Next up on my summer reading list, Lonesome Dove. I’m very excited for this one. It’s been on my “shelf” since 2017. Completing The Recognitions and Angel Down put me in a headspace for wanting a slow burn story with deep characters. I’ve heard crying is normal for this one lol #booksky 080
hacz @hacz.lol · 29/06/2026I worry for the city of Memphis. Ja brought in ticket and merch sales they/the franchise desperately need. 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 29/06/2026~50 pages into Angel Down and I’m not sure I’m feeling it. I see the allure of the McCarthy-esque descriptions of violence, and I’m intrigued by the single sentence prose; the relentless momentum is a little hard to stay with. #booksky 020
hacz @hacz.lol · 28/06/2026Hey, Y’all are forgetting your socials and addresses when you do these, we need that info too. Sincerely, Someone who definitely doesn’t have nefarious intentions with your data 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 27/06/2026Today, we finish The Recognitions. I’ve been with this goon for just under 4 weeks, and it’s completely changed my outlook on tackling postmodern literature. #booksky 140
hacz @hacz.lol · 26/06/2026The "is Culver's fast casual" discourse is very funny from where I grew up. In Northern Indiana that was the nice restaurant. On a good night my parents could swing it I would have gotten the shrimp, and would have felt like a Kennedy. Back then, a well done piece of steak & ketchup was extravagant. 000
hacz @hacz.lol · 26/06/2026Interestingly, Gaddis wrote something similar in The Recognitions when Benny kills himself on live TV. This was in 1950 lol 010
hacz @hacz.lol · 26/06/2026Throw in some and onions and peppers while you're at it, might as well take advantage of the heatwave via low energy food prep 010
hacz @hacz.lol · 24/06/2026So true. Even after college, I’ve had to do very specific and intentional research/learning to fill in gaps that were entirely missed or white washed over. Digging into Native American history in my early 20s is what really made me say “oh shit, this is bad” to our education system. 110
hacz @hacz.lol · 24/06/2026I’m nearing the end of The Recognitions. In ~900 pages, Gaddis enlightened two things: Everyone smoked like it was necessary. Everyone was sure they were the most genuine person in the room. 75 years later, the only difference is our understanding of cigarettes. We’re all frauds lol #booksky 000
