Americans should also be worried that they are too reliant on US tech. Five companies are driving the US tech sector and the US government has shown no interest in holding them accountable for acting in their user's best interest. Americans are depending on Europe for their data privacy too.

There aren’t many silver linings to this administration, but worsening relations between the US and its allies have made it more politically palatable for other countries to hold American big tech to account and make better alternatives. Ironically, improving tech for Americans in the process.
