I had been chasing David Lynch hair my entire life only to now realize Kyle Chandler hair was always the true goal.

Received a text from two different friends at exactly the same time today, about two different koozies I had made. Plumley later called it koozmet.
A screenshot of my lock screen. There are two texts showing from two different friends, each about two different koozies
I had made. They were sent separately but at the same exact time.

The calm before the storm. #nyc #brooklyn #roofview
POV Brooklyn rooftop looking west. The sun is below the clouds and the clouds are a glorious orange and res with a little purple visible at top. Bottom frame has the silhouette of a Brooklyn apartment building.

Pen, watercolor, black & white charcoal pencil.

Another featured piece from the Spooky Pants book.

A man in a sweater stands with his hands on his hips looking out of a large window with the curtains open. Things aren’t looking good outside, reader. A massive winged demon is emerging from the clouds as dozens of little ghosts and bone demons rip through the sky. On the ground below we see townsfolk running through the grass. Our man in the window is in no mood for this. He lets us know, “Oh, I am in no mood for this.” His dog looks out the window as well, wagging its tail.

Fantasia (1940) inspired drawing. I think I could’ve gone a little heavier with the chaos outside but we’ll try again with fresh drawings this October. I like how the clouds turned out. Trying to balance my sloppy lines with more detail can be tricky but I think we achieved a good result.

Also, matinees at the Paris are becoming what MoMa matinees used to be in the 90s, namely people that are 50/50 on whether they are at the movies or standing on a platform waiting for the N train. Dunno what's going on but the vibe is off.

Creativity doesn’t justify inflicting that amount of suffering on others when you’re shooting a commercial for Pledge, but goddamnit if these assholes didn’t try to justify their fucking vision for furniture wax.

Rewatched ALL THAT JAZZ at the Paris yesterday. I love that film so so much, but this viewing had me realizing that 90% of the directors I used to produce for used Roy Scheider's character as an instruction manual for life.

But that morning after the blackout, when the power came back, when the lights came on, when folks could call each other and say they were okay… that felt like the first step up out of the attic we had all been trapped in since 9/11. That first step toward the light.

Time is a weird thing. When the blackout happened two years later, there was such fear at first that we were being pulled back into the dark fugue we had just started to lift from.

The next few years are so cloudy. Those weeks immediately after 9/11 when the city was so silent, except for the occasional F14 jets that would rip through the sky overhead making you flinch and wince. So empty, except for the armed to the teeth National Guard patrolling the bridges and subways.

Talking to the office, no one was sure what to do. Stay or go. Hunker down or get the fuck out. Cell phones weren’t working well. I had a landline at my apartment, so everyone walked together from Little Italy over to my place.

But my sister worked for me. And friends. And they were in the office downtown. They were close to where it happened and they had a clear view of everything. And I felt awful that they were there and I wasn’t.

At the time I was the executive producer of documentary production company that was downtown - on Grand Street between Mott and Mulberry. It was the top floor of the Ferrara Bakery building. But I wasn’t there. An EP privilege of getting to come in late when I stayed out late the night before.

I remember that morning on 9/11, woken up by a phone call from my girlfriend at the time. I had been out late the night before at Tonic on the Lower East Side with friends. We saw Dave Pajo and Pullman. We all got too drunk and stayed out too late.

Shout out to the guy at VERG emergency vet a few days ago in Brooklyn who came in with their cat named Antifa. Loved hearing the staff ask, "anyone here for Antifa" whenever they needed to chat with you. I hope Antifa is doing well and ready to fight another day.
