I will never understand why GMs consider their players having an impact with the world as world breaking. Thats how existing in a world is, you're gonna have an impact. I only worry about whether a call I make is game breaking, because one wrong call and we could not have a campaign anymore.

And I'm saying this as a new GM myself who is constantly making sure I work on my skills so I don't accidentally take my player's agency. Their choices should matter & impact the story, they just shouldn't derail things so much that there isn't a story anymore.

A mistake I've noticed from listening to a lot of TTRPG Horror stories that some new GMs make, is being so terrified of railroading their players that they don't put up any guardrails. It is perfectly okay to guide your players & help keep things going, just make sure you are communicating with them
