Going to be blitzing any games media that does #ttrpg news soon! If you are familiar with any folks (streamers, interviewers, media sites, etc), I'D REALLY appreciate some direciton there! Or a shout out. Or a share. ...anything really! Have a press kit! ↙️ www.antiquarian-games.com/presskit

Hello friends! I'm looking to get the L.O.R.E. Kickstarter out there, so if you know any interviewers, press, streamers, etc, that are looking for new ttrpg content, PLEASE let me know! L.O.R.E. is a brand new ttrpg; do me a favor and share this so I can get out there!
A promotional image for LORE, a fantasy TTRPG. It features several graphics: on the left, a sword wrapped in a framing ribbon, the LORE logo in the center over a sunburst, then below and around that a cast of legendary characters associated with the game.

Text on the bottom reads: An Epic Fantasy Tabeltop RPG, Launching October 7th on Kickstarter.

Notify me on Launch.

I am become graphic designer, poster of ads. You'd think actual design was the difficult part of making a game. It's definitely the easiest part for me. BUT HEY, this is what I've got. If you want to know about more, check out my posts or follow the #kickstarter link below. #ttrpg #indiestudio

Hi friends. I've been quiet for quite some time, mostly reposting everything from @antqgames.bsky.social. Whyfor? Well. That's my studio. I'm working on a little project called L.O.R.E., an epic fantasy #ttrpg, and it's crowd funding on Kickstarter soon. Time for some nerd posts.

Writing TSoC's sequel is forcing me to reread it, and I am reminded that I love storytelling. The Soul of Chaos is a crazy romp of Sci-Fantasy, explosive, twisted plots, and a modernized take of epic fantasy. Read it, rate it, let me write more! #novel #epicfantasy 🔗➡️ a.co/d/0i3EXMhn
The Soul of Chaos's cover on the right, featuring it's protagonists: Rurik and Arkalis, next it are some quotes from reviewers about the quality of the book, such as:

"THE SOUL OF CHAOS is a double-edged sword of sci-fantasy. Rich with lore and potential, this genre-busting epic has high aspirations."

When talking about L.O.R.E., the elements of a power like this are something I wish I could communicate in more bit-sized snippets. Things like, even on a "miss", you still meaningfully contribute to an encounter, inherent scaling, and synergistic values that can massively aid your party.

I definitely need to start hyping this more, but LORE is going to start shopping for Crowdfound, hopefully in ~July! Right now I'm getting a ton of art developed (all human ofc, obligatory "fuck AI" statement), and @mhinventory.bsky.social sent me this recent mockup, which is beyond exciting:

In L.O.R.E., my soon-to-be #ttrpg, you finish character creation by choosing your Starter Pack which grants you all of your early items, spare currency, and even some potential property or assets, like a war horse or a residence. And yes, the guidebook has rules for property baked into equipment!

Druids in this game function off less powers, but each ability is designed to scale, and usually has more than one use, giving them an elemental-bender feel instead of a nature wizard. There are 10 specific Elements in LORE, each with their own unique powers—none of which overlap with other magic.
This page lists the 10 Primordial Elements of LORE and their powers. There are too many powers to list here, and I don't have time for that, but the elements are:

Animal, Decay, Earth, Fire, Metal, Sky, Soul, Void, Water, and Wood.

Last up, we've got Progression Classes. These Classes require at least 12 levels of previous investment, and take you through your higher levels of play, all the way up to a Mythic Tier, complete with all sorts of game-breaking powers and abilities. These also fit archetypes, like Base Classes.
This image displays the intro to the Archmage, one of the most powerful classes in the game. This is a natural fit for a Wizard, taking them into higher-tiers of Spells, and allowing them to become masters of the Arcane Magic Origin.

Don't fuck with an Archmage, the saying goes.

Hybrid Classes combine two Base Classes to form something entire unique, such as the Valkyrie, which is an Acolyte/Witch Combo. Niche classes fulfill a specific... niche! Suprise. An Ark Knight is a front-line, melee caster, with a specialty in spell swording, or a GISH.
This image displays the intro for the Ark Knight, a caster/melee niche, used as a front-line warrior that blends magic and sword. They're very good at switching between disciplines, and can use heavy armor to augment the lack luster defense of a mage.

Art on this page is still place-holder art taken from Tactics Ogre, artist is Akihiko Yoshida. This image displays the intro for the Valkyrie, one of my favorite classes. it's a Hybrid, requiring 2 levels of Acolyte and 2 of Witch, to form a reaper that can focus on summoning, support, melee, or powers, or a combination of those features.

They're highly complex, but cool AF, really.

Advanced Classes are natural progressions from their base. A Rogue can become an Assassin, Duelist, or Thief, or a Fighter a Champion, Vanguard, or Tactician. These classes are your low-to-mid level paths, covering 10 levels of play and forming the core of your character, as well as their paths.
This image displays the Rogue ADV Class table for the Thief, a skill/social class focused on manipulating their environments. This image displays the Rogue ADV Class table for the Duelist, a combat/social classes focused on crowd control, pissing off enemies, and parrying assaults, even magic. This image displays the Rogue ADV Class table for the Assassin, a skill/combat focused on stealth, ambushes, and finishing off encounters before they even begin. Also, bonus poison stuff.

Base Classes are more archetypes than anything. Each only has 2 levels, but they set you up for the rest of your career. Once you've gained enough levels in one, or multiples, you can then level into Advanced or Prestige Classes, which is where identities form. And it's where shit gets wild.
This image displays the intro page for the Witch. It has its base class abilities, some details, and the Hag ADV class displayed.

It's too much to type here, but there's also art of a witch taken from Tactics Ogre as a place-holder for final art by Akihiko Yoshida. This image displays the intro page for the Warlock. It has its base class abilities, some details, and the Ascendant ADV class displayed.

Alright, let's talk about some #ttrpg shenanigans. L.O.R.E., my soon-to-be-released project, is a mixture of various d20 editions, a bit of D&D, and a lot of Final Fantasy Tactics/Ogre Battle. It's greatest feature? Classes. In the guidebook alone, there's almost 80, or so. More? See ⬇️
This is a list of Prestige Classes in LORE. They are as follows:

Hybrid List
Armiger, Astrologer, Dreadnaught, Magus, Primordial Fist, Sage, Skald, Sword Saint, Sylph, Valkyre

Niche List
Arcane Archer, Ark Knight, Doll Mage, Dragoner, Dread Mage, Justiciar, Mutationist, Ranger, Reaver, Shadowdancer

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm good at TTRPG dev, then I do something like include the ability for players to engage with a mechanic used for collecting tolls.
This is what the image says:

A check point that allows passage through a a palisade or defensive wall. Gatehouses come with Reinforced Doors that cannot be picked, and require 5 DC 30 Effort Checks to break down with DR (10), a 15 AC, and 50 Hit Points. The doors of a Gatehouse can only be opened from inside of it and require creatures equal to ½ its Attendants to operate. If attended, a Gatehouse reduces Risk by 2% x its Wealth Bonus, and it may produce Income up to 100c x its Wealth Bonus per Event via tolls, unmodified by Attendants CR. Dedicated individuals to a Property gain negative Affinity Points with you per 100c of Income you receive per attached Gatehouse or within the proximity of a political region.

Requires a Palisade.

One of my favorite things to do when dev'ing LORE, my D&D adjacent TTRPG, is creating powers or features that let you recreate any world or moment from media. This power, from the Naming Origin of magic, is a specific ode to everyone's favorite Gray wizard:
Find the Answer
Power Word: Know
Naming, Simple: 1 Tick, Prediction, Utility
Quintessence: 3
Range: Self
Duration: Instant
You mutter and negotiate with yourself, searching the threads of reality in an attempt to find an answer to a single question. When cast, you ask a question, such as “what is the password to open this door” or “which path leads us to the surface”. The question can be less specific, such as finding the answer to a single step of a puzzle or riddle. Once asked, roll percentile dice:

1. You glimpse an entirely incorrect answer that sends you down a separate path. You and anyone conferring with you suffer DIS (2) on Checks made to interact with the focus of your question for 1 Rest.

2-25. You know a partially misleading answer. You and anyone conferring with you suffer DIS (2) on Checks made to interact with the focus of your question for 1 Rest.

26-74. You know a partial answer—a hint to what the answer may be, part of a word, a description, or something that nudges you toward a correct assumption.

75-99. You know an answer that fits the exact wording of your question.

100. You know the best or most exact possible answer for the intent of your question, even if the wording is nonsensical.

Time for some more LISTS. I'm stuck in the editing process for LORE (we're very close to playtesting), but I decided to take a break and instead create tables to easier list and find Feats. The initial guide has some 225 Feats. BEHOLD:
Mythic Feats are available from level 15 onward, have steep requirements, and unlock powerful abilities, often the capstone of a feat tree or a power addition to a previous ability. You only gain so many of these, but there are quite a few, ~70 or so.There are less Magic Feats and far fewer Skill Feats than others. Skills, notably, have Specializations apart from the Feat system, so there's an intentional lack of Feats for them. Magic, also, concerns itself with stacking abilities, so a single Magic Feat can often be taken multiple times.General Feats are a catch-all category, containing Feats that revolve around Luck, resting easier, training, consumption, flight, movement, and toughness. A list of Combat Feats for LORE. There are ~78 or so, mostly focusing on enhancing combat styles with particular Weapon Groups and unique bonuses for interacting with and aiding Combat Encounters.

Just me puttering about with more LORE things. Since this game is a D&D 5e/3.5 hybrid (Kinda? Not really, but yes) I wanted to bring back one of my favorite aspects 3.5, Leadership! I love sub systems, and building a crunchy games lets me add all the mechanics. All of them.
Military Leadership is an expansion of the Leadership Feat, giving you access to more Followers, stronger Followers, and the ability send your dudes out for coordinated attacks against political regions.Community Leadership is an expansion of the Leadership Feat, expanding your number of Followers and granting you access to more useful Followers via crafting and admin. It also gives you some downtime actions related to building and diplomacy. The Leadership Feat grants you low-level Followers and a few Downtime actions for how you can use these individuals. Generally, it gives you a band or loyal retinue that does what you tell them to. It's a huge Feat, but it also does an immense amount of work.

Our last Advanced Class is the Priest, our spell and social-oriented Acolyte, focused on magic, support, and healing. Priests don't do well in martial situations, but dominate via casting, and have a fast power progression along with some unique support abilities.
You gain multiple Fervent Servant features, which further alter your progression as Priest. What to be better at casting? Have more leeway with your deity? It's all here.Dogmatic Expert allows you further support your allies with bonuses to checks OR massively hinder your enemies by causing chaos amongst their ranks.Your Empowered Channel feature is one of your best, allowing you support your allies by increasing their damage or by healing in a unique way. Also, AoE heals are great.Priest Training is geared towards providing Aid, powers, and social aspects. No martial ability here, but very powerful elsewise.
130
Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 15/03/2025
Clerics are craftable hybrids, like Paladins, but focus more on support and powers over their more militant cousins. They gain more Domains than other class, are multi-role, and focus on Recitations, or chants that imbue themselves and others will divine powers. Think Warhammer.
Second set of Divine Synergy powers. Focused on casting, buffing, and Social aspects.Divine Synergy is how you specialize your Cleric. Are you a Warrior? A holy chanter? More spell and social oriented?

Also, Divine Censer lets you smack things effectively what censer meshed with a flail. Whack.Cleric Training a hybrid of hyrbids: skill, power, and combat potential all in one.

Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 15/03/2025
Paladins in LORE are divine militants, honing their connection to their Divine Source in exchange for unique powers, albeit at a slower power progression. They're hybrid casters, here, as you'd expect, but are stringent in their service, losing access to most of their abilities if they fall.
You gain up to 3 Faithful Scion features, choosing how you'd like to shape your Paladin, either as more support or martial oriented. Your Paladin Aura is essential to the class. You can use it to bolster yourself and your allies or punish your enemies. Either way, it's a powerful tool.Your Divine Oath is very strict, and much easier broken than other classes' Divine Source feature. More power, more responsibility.

In exchange, you get a badass smite abilitiy that allows you to use your CHA to determine extra damage with your attacks. Paladins receive some basic training to keep them current with other Martial Classes, but most of their offensive ability comes from casting.
110
Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 15/03/2025
There's a lot to go over here, specifically each Base Class like this has 32 levels worth of class. The initial first 2 levels of Acolyte set up for your Advanced Class, granting you your first Domain, Prayers, and entering into contract with your Divine Source.
The Acolyte Training feature grants you a few proficiencies or extra abilities that set you up for your Advanced Class, such Weapon Training, Armor Training, or Dogma Training.Fervor is an Acolyte's casting resource, which fuels Prayers (or spells in most other games). It's a power point system!Your Domains grant you unique features as you level, and cover topics such as Death, Life, Battle, or Mischief. Your Divine Source in LORE is the deity your serve or an ideal of some kind. It's important to stay aligned with it, otherwise you lose access to your powers.

LORE is getting very close to completion, so let's do some showcasing. Let's look at some classes! Today, we've got the Acolyte, the Base Class for Divine casters. Acolytes have the potential to become Clerics, Paladins, or Priests, then at higher levels, Hierophants. More below!

If I'm only telling a story it doesn't matter. Being a Lich is a plot point, I can do whatever a Lich does in the story. In a game, though, I want something that comes of becoming a Lich. Preexisting mechanics for this gives me an immediate, and quantifiable, response to "What now?"
Lich Form, a power from a game called LORE, begins the process of changing you into a Lich, codifying the mechanics of this, such as granting you resistances, increases to scores, and new spells and abilities.
111
Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 12/03/2025
Why bother, though? Eventually, you can send an Einheri onward to serve your deity, which grants you temporary, or permanent bonuses, but you only receive these if you have a positive relationship with these souls. Valkyire not only in name.
The Chooser of the Slain feature allows you to send sends with a positive Affinity to your deity, which in turn grants you bonuses for your work. It also allows you to level up your Einherjar so you can get better bonuses for training and sending them onward.
000
Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 12/03/2025
Once you have at least 1 soul as an Enheri, you gain two potential options for it. You can either graft it to your soul, using its type to enhance your own abilities, or summon it to fight alongside you. While an Enheri is summoned you can foster your relationships.
Depicts the Summon Einheri feature, which lets you do exactly that. You summon a collected soul and they do things they did in life. The Graft Einheri features lets you empower yourself by attaching souls to your own soul, gaining bonuses based on their type: Caster, Expert, or Martial.
100
Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 12/03/2025
Your primary features revolve around your Einherjar, though, always making you a summoner of some kind, a concept handled by the Collect Soul feature. You can use this feature to combat spirits or ghosts, also, or simply bring peace to the fallen.

Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 12/03/2025
A lot of the class design from LORE ( #ttrpg ) comes from some of my favorite games: Ogre Battle (MotBQ), and FFT; especially the art. The Valkyrie Class is a combination martial/summoner, allowing you to fight up close and summon Einherjar for tasks as you need them.

You get spells, prayers, and a bunch of features I'll be talking about below.A sweet fuckin' picture of two Rune Fencers from Tactics Ogre, female & male, that are big inspirations for this class. ...multiple aspects that would suffer if you continued to favor Bard or Wilder in the Skáld's place. Taking it a step further, you gain even greater customization within the class. Your Skaldic Focus feature is geared toward one of three roles: martial, caster, or social.
It's Skaldic focus again. Same image as the initial post that lets you choose between the Drengr feature (warrior), Court Poet (social), and Flyer (caster/rap expert).

Class design in LORE is centered around 10 level chunks with multiple progression branches. Basically, at any point, your character can multiclass and it should fit their narrative, and work with your core build. The Skáld, a hybrid prestige class, exemplifies those attributes. (More Below)
Class table from LORE's Skáld class. It shows general progression and features. I am too lazy to type out everything in alt text but the following posts explain things.Class description for the Skáld along with its key features, Verse, which is basically combat-poetry, and Focused Verse, which makes verse better via some metal-sounding abilities. The Skáldic Focus feature lets you customize your progression: warrior, caster, or social character. That's what this image shows. This image shows the Skáld capstone, Epic Verse, which makes one of your focused verses way more metal.

Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 02/03/2025
Prestige classes are my absolutely favorite thing ever. I'd die to see them in 5e; I think 2024 is ripe for them, tbh. LORE uses them for highly niche play, but also for high levels. So Archmage has 10 levels, but requires 12 levels of Wizard, wheres Ranger you can take from level 1.
100
Gregory @gwunders.bsky.social · 02/03/2025
Your analysis paralysis will be thoroughly stimulated! My favorite feature so far is the ~70 classes with a FFT job-like approach to unlocking them. So like, Acolyte has 2 base levels, then expands into Cleric, Paladin, or Preist depending on your choices. And there's 13 more classes like it.

Continuing LORE (D&D Adjacent) classes, let's take a look at the Ranger. Instead of a base class, the Ranger is a prestige class here, or a niche, either a martial/skill or martial/magic hybrid with a wilderness theme. Still, you can take it at first level, if you qualify for it!

One of the ways L.O.R.E., my D&D adjacent TTRPG, helps you as a player is active-use powers for every class, even beyond spells. Even martial characters gain "powers", similar to spells, but noticeably mundane. The Ranger, for instance, can acquire the Hunter's Trap Talent ⬇️
This image shows the specific of the Ranger's class talent, Hunter's Trap, from a TTRPG called LORE. It basically lets you make a trap, that does trap things, at the expense of resources. It's a trap. A trappity trap trap that traps things. Also, damage.

Yeah okay so I can talk about L.O.R.E. all day and whatever but why would you want to play a 3.5/5e hybrid that is, actually, neither of those things? Because of the Doll Mage class. Make a Witch, make her weird, then give her access to little murder constructs. Flavor is better with mechanics.
Second page of the Doll Mage class features. Most of it describes updates to your dolls and the ability to dip into your original classes so you 're not beholden to your little nightmare constructs. Eventually you can do cool shit like my a doll entirely autonomous and do whatever it wants, like go on its own adventure as a 1st level character that totally isn't a short story I'm writing for LORE.Doll Mage features. You've got spells and you create dolls, which are semi-autounomous little shits that can kill things, aid you, defend you, or run around causing havoc.Class table from the Doll Mage LORE prestige class. One of the things that annoys me most about D&D has always been the lack of relationship mechanics. Yes, I know, Role Playing and whatnot, but why not encourage RP? L.O.R.E. does this with Affinity Levels (AL), which raise and lower via points you accrue for interacting with the world.

And, because everyone loves Dragons, here's the Dragoner, which is similar in concept to the Dread Mage: you become a half, or full dragon. This class is unique in that if you build level 0 correctly, you can take it as your first class level.

Continuing the thread of "build whatever you want", L.O.R.E., a D&D adjacent TTRPG, implements Prestige Classes that tend to fill coveted hybrid progressions or niche concepts. The Dread Mage, for example, hijacks your Arcane or Divine casting path and lets you switch gears into Lichdom.

This goes over completing your Lich transformation, making you a true undead creature, and the classes capstone, which is incredibly power by making your casting ability score an omni-stat, but comes with some social drawbacks.1st Page Explanation of the Dread Mage. Let's elaborate, because why not. LORE (1st Ed.) has a base of 76 classes, though this doesn't mean what you think. 14 Base Classes, each with 3 (ish) Advanced Classes, then 36 Prestige Classes. Think of it like FFT Jobs. Each class has qualifications, such as Valkyrie: Acolyte (2), Witch (2).

One of my favorite pieces of L.O.R.E. are background traits. There's a lot of mechanics in this particular trait (Werewolf) that take a bit of explaining but the general idea allows you to create an entire character narrative with a single trait.

It's fun to share some of the modules/pieces I do for work. We go through a ton of proprietary content—stuff that's easily on part with most D&D modules out there, and we always do a series of holiday games. Cluster-Pluck was probably my favorite to write, featuring a colonial turkey lich.
