Like WI 2022 Senate race, Andrews will lose by 1-2 points, and democrats will eat themselves for not spending more on the race.

low energy, boring, lack of charisma - yeah, these pretty much define a candidate who is not high quality. that's my whole point. He's indeed fine, and may beat Collins. But there's a world in which he loses Main, and Hamilton wins KS, in the same night. because candidate quality matters, too.

Noah - I never said Platner was a good candidate and ofc he needed to be booted out. All I said is that Jackson is not a strong candidate. But the winds are blowing so hard against R, that he may win, but I wont be surprised if he loses. KS is the opposite. Hamilton is a strong candidate.

he might eventually win, but its a D+12 state. his numbers are not ones of a strong candidate. its enough to look at the polling diff for governor and senate races in TX and MI to get a sense of how much candidates quality could mater. we are in a +10 spread.

4. Its really really really hard to covert to judaism, which is NOT a missionary religion. That's not how most religions operate. The reason for this anti-missionary creed is, again, because it's a tribe.

Most religions require an act of faith to join. Judaism just requires being born to a Jewish mother. Zero other requirements. 3. Nazi germany didn’t care if you were a non-practicing Jew. Nazis problem was not with our faith. In the 20th c. We were persecuted as a people.

You almost never hear a Jew say “I’m no longer Jewish”. And the reason is that you don’t need to believe in God, follow traditions, or practice any rituals to be Jewish. Most religions don’t operate this way. 2. You are Jewish because your mom’s Jewish. It’s a tribe.

I see a lot of negative takes. Not sure I agree. Judaism is both a religion and a people. And for many atheists the peoplehood identity is stronger. For me - much stronger. Here’s some examples of jewish peoplehood. 1. You hear people say “I was raised catholic but I’m bo longer one.” But…

Joe - my point is broader. There is no magic button that Trump can press, end the war , and get Hormuz open without Iran levying new tolls and also magically have Iran nuclear operations under tight control.

banning international competition is bad for consumers and it reduces the incentives of local firms to innovative and be more efficient, making them less competitive internationally. Dumb and short sighted.

Israel's Election Committee disqualified all Arab parties today from running in the Knesset elections. I expect the decision to be over ruled by the Supreme Court. Still, shameful vote. "only democracy in the middle east"

Saddened to wake up to the news that my former colleague, Ellen Kennedy died yesterday. Professor Kennedy was an eminent political theorist whose work on Carl Schmitt shaped scholarship on law, constitutionalism, liberalism, and sovereignty. She was a force of good and she will be missed.

🔹 We tested a large battery of potential explanations (e.g., resource shortages, officer churn), and find no signs that fixing them would rescue COP. 👉 COP may hit real limits in low-income settings — and models that work in high-income contexts don't necessarily travel to low-income contexts.

🔹We find null effects across a board set of outcomes. No gains in perceived safety, no better attitudes toward police, no more crime reporting, no stronger cooperation with the police. 🔹 And on the police side, we find no evidence that officers grew more empathetic or accountable either.

🔹 Community-oriented policing (COP) is one of the most widely touted police reforms — but rigorously tested in the Global South? Not much. 🔹 We use an RCT design to study COP in the Uganda — a program locally designed and self-funded by the Ugandan government.
