It's culpably naive too. There is no way you can think that a DNC that can pressure you now to switch positions will let up pressure and let you pivot back later. You tell yourself that to salve your conscience when you make the initial betrayal, but you know deep down it isn't true.

I absolutely agree with you. I'm a professional theological educator in the mainline, and I will tell you that's about how deep the liberalism in the denoms go and the lack of genuine principle wounds me, an idealist. Hypocrisy is the cultural style of institutional authority in the churches.

If you're trans and in the EU, you have about two years to start preparing for major rollbacks in your rights. Germany, France, Spain, etc. are all extremely likely to fall to neo fascist parties in the next 2-3 years. Italy is already there and sliding further. It's going to fall fast.
