Are fish responses consistent with ocean warming in the Bay of Biscay? 59% of indicators significantly aligned with the expected impact of warming on marine fish over the last 3 decades. See out the paper lead by Elorri Arevalo in Fish and Fisheries: doi.org/10.1111/faf....

Today @azti.bsky.social team sampled blue carbon ecosystems in Basque estuaries to estimate carbon sequestration, with the collaboration of @csic.es @imedea.bsky.social and @surfrider.org. #C-BLUES Measures included gas balance

Do you know why do oceans shelter fewer species than land? A conundrum posed by Robert May in 1994. See a review in Oikos nsojournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/... @villarino1981.bsky.social @naiarare.bsky.social @azti.bsky.social

🐟🔥 The sea is warming… and that’s changing what we catch and how much it’s worth. 📊 In the NW Mediterranean, we analyzed 23 years of data to understand how climate change is reshaping fisheries. #ClimateChange #Fisheries #Mediterranean @icmcsic.bsky.social  #LuciaEspasandin

🌍 Climate change is already reshaping Mediterranean fisheries. 📊 With indicators like MTC and MTR, we can anticipate risks and opportunities. 💡 Time to act: science, management, and adaptation. #FutureOfFisheries #BlueTransformation

21733 observations of long-term data collected during 2002–2022 from surface down to 100 m across the southern Bay of Biscay’s coast revealed significant pH decreases in all depth layers (0.022–0.041 units / decade).
