Excited to be spending ~ 3 months in the Arctic Circle at The Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø, Centre for ice, Cryosphere, Carbon and Climate next year! We will collect cobbles from the Lyngen Alps (Lyngsfjellan / Ittuvárit) for OSL dating & plan future sampling in Greenland!

If you happen to be at the JpGU-AGU meeting in Chiba, my talk is going to be tomorrow (May 25) at 11:45 in the Paleoclimatology and paleoceanography session. Topic: "An investigation of the evolution of the North American ice sheets through glacial cycles".

#FieldworkFriday Photographs from the Konglongluo Valley, Eastern Tibetan Plateau, where we collected cobbles from moraines to luminescence date! (sciencedirect.com/science/arti...) (Feel free to request full copy) #Climatechange #Glaciers #TibetanPlateau

Can the OSL dating of cobbles be used to constrain the timing of former lake levels? 3 cobbles from palaeo lake beaches in the Great Basin, Nevada, USA, are consistent with radiocarbon ages (~ 16 ka) @egu.eu open access article: gchron.copernicus.org/articles/8/2... @driscience.bsky.social

Did the midnight ☀️ bleach into the sub-surface of rocks in the Arctic? Following our OSL dating of cobbles from moraines in the Tibetan Plateau (doi.org/10.1016/j.qu...) we are applying this technique to moraines in the Lyngen Alps (Lyngsfjellan / Ittuvárit), Troms, Arctic Norway @rhewlif.xyz 🏔️❄️🌈🌞

When was that moraine created?? Luminescence ages from the sub-surface of cobbles, collected from moraines in the Konglongluo Valley, Tibetan Plateau, agree with external age control! Do get in touch if interested in this new moraine-dating technique!! www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Very late on the uptake, but great to see our British-Irish ice sheet extents illustrated in this BBC article alongside the ever-fantastic work by @jdkirkham.bsky.social For the full article of ice-extents and timings, see here: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Fingerprints of city-sized icebergs found off UK coast - Excellent BBC News coverage of our new study! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Iceberg tracks found off UK coast could shed light on Antarctica
Deep tracks gouged in the seafloor off the coast of Scotland could help us understand Antarctica today.
