Just a lady who expects better of Americans, and humans in general. I’m really an optimist. I swear.

JD Vance gave Politico information anonymously. Politico reported the information. The White House cited Politico’s reporting of Vance’s information as part of its justification for banning Politico. Then Vance defended the ban. This is some 1930s Germany Twilight Zone shit.

Thinking about the East Wing, I can’t imagine the “build it before they stop us” approach will be built to any sort of building code (other design issues aside)… I don’t see how a future administration (if we have one) could do anything but tear it down. It’ll be the reflecting pool of buildings.

` 60+ Cherry Trees were cut down in DC to make way for a golf course for Trump. This act violated a court order. They did it anyway because the law doesn’t apply to this administration. These trees were gifted to the American people by Japan in 1912. More destruction by a criminal government.

Do not normalize children dying from measles. Measles was previously eliminated in the US, thanks to vaccines. When children die from measles, it means that adults have catastrophically failed to protect them because they have rejected basic science.

Flock takes their privacy very seriously. But the ethical gray area in surveillance technology works both ways. Under no circumstances should elected officials or public servants enjoy an expectation of privacy when spending tax dollars to attend a surveillance lobbying event.

Todd Blanche: “I am not sure of the uproar of having a Border Patrol or ICE agent at a polling location. What's the risk?” Uhm, maybe because it’s illegal? Federal statute 18 U.S.C. § 592 prohibits deploying “troops or armed men” to locations where elections are held. An AG should know this.

Libraries make us a harder target for authoritarianism. Equal access to info, ideas, and space that doesn’t require a purchase to belong. Also: using the library means money stays in your community instead of streaming out to Amazon. 📚 What’s checked out on your card right now?

If you’re watching Fauci’s testimony remember that science isn’t an ideology. It doesn’t lie. It evolves. COVID-19 was a once-in-a-century pandemic caused by a brand-new virus, recommendations changed because the evidence changed. That’s not deception. That’s how it works.

A lot of people don’t realize the dust bowl wasn’t a natural phenomenon. It happened when agrobusiness interests dramatically transformed the plains without regard for drought, and created vicious dust storms that choked whole families to death. That’s what I think of when I read about data centers.

This is addressed to everyone, but especially Americans under the age of 30: Read dystopian novels. Read 1984, and Brave New World, and Fahrenheit 451, and White Noise, and—fuck—even Hunger Games. So many of you just aren’t getting what’s been happening just because you don’t read.

#OTD in 1903, Marie Curie--the legendary Polish-French physicist & chemist--defended her doctoral thesis on radioactive substances at the U. de la Sorbonnes becoming the first woman in France to earn a doctorate in #physics. She won Nobel Prize in Physics (1903) & in Chemistry (1911). #WomenInSTEM
A black-and-white photograph of Polish-French physicist and chemist Marie Skłodowska-Curie (1867–1934), the first person to win two Nobel Prizes. She sits sideways on a simple wooden chair, leaning her left elbow juust off the backrest with her hand supporting her chin. Her expression is intense, serious, and deeply contemplative, with dark hair loosely swept up. She wears a dark, long-sleeved dress with voluminous fabric gathering at the shoulders, typical of the late 19th or early 20th century. To her right, a long wooden worktable stretches across the room, cluttered with laboratory apparatus, including a vertical brass instrument, glass bottles, and jars. The background reveals a room with large paneled windows and a door, suggesting a makeshift or academic laboratory setting. The composition focuses heavily on Curie's powerful gaze, evoking an introspective, solemn mood that speaks to her monumental sacrifices and historic dedication to the study of radioactivity.
